Kevin's Watch

The thread in the Runes forum about Kasreyn just got me thinking about these nutty theories to explain what the croyel actually are.

- They're evil versions of the Elohim. They went bad and got kicked out of Elemesnedene, sort of like Loki and Bartleby in the movie Dogma.

- They're banes or the spawn of banes created by Foul when he corrupted the Land during the Creator's making of the Earth.

- They're the last of the Viles that didn't die out after the spawning of the Demondim.

- They're ur-viles or something evil and lore-wise that got exposed to the Sunbane and were warped by it as a result.

- The Clave created them and sent them out to spread evil throughout the world (They created the Coursers, right?)

- Kasreyn found a magic lamp and rubbed it, only to unleash something worse than a friendly genie.

I've always imagined them as malevolent, evil Cabbage Patch Kids for some reason.


...Ew, that's a thought. A field full of little cabbages, with croyel sticking out of each one. Cabbage Patch Croyel!

I think that they're, more likely than not, from a part of the world we haven't seen yet; sort of a bane or evil or something that's existed for millenia, much like the Sandgorgons.
