As most of you already know, I had to say goodbye to my furry pal, Sage last weekend.

Well, I get her ashes back sometime next week, and I have to come up with something to have ingraved on the little gold plaque that is on the urn.

There isn't alot of space, and I really don't know what to put other than "Sage 1995-2005".

We have so many brilliant people here at KW, and I was hoping that together we could come up with something that would be fitting ... bearing in mind that she was an amazing friend/companion/pooch and that I am limited for space on this little plaque.

Any suggestions? Your help is deeply appreciated.

Do you know (or can you find out) how many character spaces you're allowed?

45 characters, including spaces. Just off the top of my head. Simple is best perhaps, and those are your own words.

Can be more creative if there is more space. Hope it helps a bit.

M-D, just a thought, and obviously this is up to you, but I went through the same thing when my dog died last year. I had him cremated, and still have his ashes in the generic cardboard box. We had considered getting a fancy box and keeping him with us in the house, but.....

He loved being outside. When the weather was nice, he'd stay out and bask in the sun, even when we came in. We also decided that we had enough great memories of him that we didn't need a constant reminder, in the form of box and ashes, that he was gone. We also recognize that that's not him in the box. It's the remains of his body, it's not his soul, his spirit, or his love.

When the weather turns better, we will pick a nice day, take the box outside, and spread his ashes around the yard. It's where he'd want to be.

Just something to consider.

Well, we lost our cat Thor the day after New Year, and we picked a nice corner of the garden, buried him, and then built a fernery over him with a shadecloth canopy, and chip bark to stop the weeds. In the middle of the ferns is a wrought iron bird bath with a gorgeous statue of a cat in the middle. It looks beautiful, peaceful and shady. We call it 'Thor's Garden'. Then we cried heaps.

An acquaintance's old horse was once described as "Pegasus in a light brown wrapper," so perhaps something in that vein? A wonderful quality made more precious because it wasn't flaunted.... Just tossing out an idea. It's more difficult to do with limited space, though.

Hmmm... I don't know if this is over the top or not, but what about a TCTC-inspired phrase with a different connotation? Maybe:

I really like that. Truly has to be one of the best things i have ever heard. Its something i wouldnt even mind "hearing" when i die.
