that's why it's such a nice place. You can trust everyone, because you can see. If you doubt some thing, just look, you can gain any information about it just by looking, unless it is "closed" like TC. But out of habit, they trusted him. How could you destroy the earth or harm it in anyway, when one glance shows you the life of it? It is so easy to harm others, out of incomprehension of their actually being "there" alive, to be harmed. But in the Land, that's impossible, you are faced with the aliveness of everything all the time. No wonder I want to live in the Land, as do you all, more than likely!

Seeing might be nice, being seen might be not...

They could still be deceived, see how they permitted Foul into their Council...

their trust then was a flaw .. even Kasreyn could probably have deceived the inhabitants of the Land .. infact if they had a mind to .. because of the level of trust exhibited by many [not all] of the Landers .. almost anyone could deceive them.

Bannor didnt strike me as one to trust easily .. though he too was deceived by Foul in the days of High Lord Kevin ..

So trust they may have possessed .. but they didnt 'see' everyone clearly to know if they warranted their trust.

No, I get the idea that they saw but didn't understand...as in Soaring Woodhelven, when they distrusted Covenant because of a previous Raver visit...they probably knew something was up with that guy, they just couldn't tell what, Ravers having not been abroad in like forever. Same with Foul...They didn't recognize. Once they got their guard back I think that probably couldn't have happened or why didn't Foul just take up a new guise and join again? He could have wiped out all the Land's defense...and Covenant was summoned to Revelstone, would have been the perfect place to wait for him to show and snatch the white gold or just kill him or whatever. Anyway, I would say that the Land people just aren't geared for deceit, so why wouldn't they want to be "seen"? I don't want anyone reading me, but I'm a stranger so I would be closed.

I cannot see that there is any support for saying that there were no deceit in the Land. Actually I see plenty of it in the chronicles. What the people of the Land had was the ability to see how healthy something was, but the ability did not include abstracts like truth.

They would probably have been uneasy around Kasreyn's croyel. Linden was able to spot that.
