2 questions at the back of my mind

Two things keep bothering me.
Why can't Covenant stand between the Arch of Time and Joan's ring as he did with Lord Foul?
And who summoned Linden and the rest? I first assumed it was Foul, as in the second chronicles, but I think at one point there is a suggestion that the summoner was Joan. It rather matters in as much as if she dies in the land, then the others may be catapulted back to Haven Farm.
But I also seem to recall SRD saying that if your body dies in the real world then you stay in the land even if your summoner dies (ref Hile Troy). Possibly this has already happened to some of those caught in the Sheriff's hail of bullets? But perhaps if Linden were to kill Joan, wouldn't she automatically send Jeremiah back home and achieve her goal?

First question.
It was Covenants ring, and "HE IS the White Gold" the acctuall ring is a catalist...so why can't he stop Joans ring?-First this one IS Joan's ring, given to her by Him. And second, Foul tried to intentionally destroy the Arch; she's just friggin' around with it, indirectly, and quite possibly, he IS keeping the arch together in all the ceasureistic chaos, that's why it hasn't been destroyed yet.
Second question-I don't think they will kill Joan, I think they will Save her.
Although, she is dead in the real world, they have to keep her alive in the Land.

Joan isn't a real threat to the Arch, as she is Foul's tool.

Joan is only trying to punish herself for the death of her husband, and is punishing herself the only way she can. She most probably unaware of the fact that she is causing harm to the land - and therefore her husband. She is undoubtedly being kept in the dark, by Lord Foul, to destroy herself in her own private despair. As far as TC, when he foiled Lord Foul before he relinguished his ring - and his responsibilty - to Linden. He is no doubt powerless to use white gold. Otherwise he would have stopped Kevins Dirt and the caesures.

Foul made a mistake before.
He could have dismissed TC at any time once TC was a shade and then shattered the Arch.
Foul was just too furious to realize it.
He's not likely to fall for it again.
So if TC makes an apearance again he'll be pretty ineffective.
imho.
Unless he comes back in physical form.
But that's just not possible, right?

IMHO the rule that you return to the "real" world when your summoner dies no longer applies as both the Laws of Life and Death are broken.

Have to disagree with you there I'm afraid. Linden returned to the real world when Foul was destroyed. That took place after the laws of life and death were broken.
But if you said the barriers between worlds were weakened in other ways, I'd tend to agree.

AND... Covenant returned as a "shade" that was summarily dismissed by Findail after the Law of Life had been broken as well, further bolstering the argument that Foul would be able to dismiss Covenant if he returned in any form other than as a live person. I'm curious to see how this pans out.
