He acted like a big dick to the ladies. That seems to be attractive to some women.. nice guys end up in the Friend Zone, while the jerks end up being the drunken, wife-beating absentee father to their kids.

I think it all comes down to the qoute --- in legend attributed to Henry Kissinger
[no great idol for SRD] --- which was used by Oliver Stone in his movie "Nixon".

No kidding. Look at Triock. Or for that matter, both Foamfollower and Mhoram. Nicest guys in the Land, and no play.
