Favorite Twist in the series

I would have to say my favorite Twist in the whole series was in the second chronicles when Linden Avery Posesses Covenant at Kasreyn of the Gyres behest.

I crap my pants when Thomas Covenant said Nom. That was Epic.

The last part of "Runes of the Earth" was great too.
Spoiler
I shed a tear when it set in that Covenant was back.

I think you should have spoilered that last sentence out. There may be still some out there who haven't read the Runes.

I don't know if this would classify as a "twist," but one of my favorite scenes of all time was Foamfollowers re-emergence after his caamora in Hotash Slay.

I remember the lump forming in my throat as Foamfollower was consumed by the lava. I remember the scream of gladness when Covenant's tackler was revealed as Foamfollower. It was an actual scream, coupled with a clenched fist punching the air.

Yes, it was predictable, but it still gladdened my heart. Like Covenant, I will never forget Foamfollower.

For me, it has to be in the Second Chronicles when Covenant calls Nom outside of Revelstone. It still gets me excited every time.

The utterance of Nom by Covenant has been the best moment of emotional release for me, so far.

Really the entire premise of The Illearth War was quite shocking.
I mean, who was expected 40 years to pass, another person from the Real World, and Covenants Daughter being there!!

My favorite unexpected twists or surprises:

1st series:
Troy
Giants being slaughtered.
The destruction of the SoL
Covenant choosing to remain a leper at the end of the 1st Chron.

2nd:
Sunbane
More Giants
The First being a woman.
Covenant saying "Nom" (both times)
Vain speaking (yeah I know, I'm probably the only one that didn't see it coming.)

3rd:
Linden *not* being pregnant with Covenants child.

Yeah, when I read the Prolouge on SRD.co, I assumed that Jerry was Covenants Kid.

Thanks.
I never really left.
I just had little to add to the existing subjects.
Plus I'm trying to pace myself.
It's going to be a long time before the next release. ;)

And I'm still worried that we here at the Watch will come up with better ideas than SRD himself and ruin the story for me.
LOL!

For me it's the Sunbane. Definitely...

I loved how he took that risk with his own creation, the Land we had grown to love, and pulled it off.

Of course... "Nom" stands out like a beacon in the night.

The Gap-series had more of the twists.

for me, the rape of Lena shocked the heck out of me. Not sure if you would classify that as a 'twist', but it made one pause at the total different direction events took.
The "Nom" episode in the prison was great.

Sure, that was neat, I agree, but the impact of Covenant saying it outside of Revelstone was more unexpected to me. There they are, Covenant is barely holding on, Revelstone might be about to be taken down by White Magic, they are 1000s of leagues from Sandgorgon's Doom, and the oceans seperate them. But Covenant calls Nom! Awesome!

OK, I have another one.

SPOILER FOR END OF WHITE GOLD WIELDER

Foul is doing his meglomania speech about what he can do now that he has the white gold, then he hears Covenant say "Talk is cheap" That kills me! So funny! And brave! And necessary!

A few of my favorite twists:

Covenant's refusal to come to the land so that he could help the kid with the snake bit.

The appearance of Hile Troy at the Revelstone council.

The kneeling of the crowd of Ranyhin - obviously showing their recognition of great power.

One of my favorite twists is the revealing that Amok is the Seventh Ward - erroneously summoned by awakening of the Krill by TC.

Elena's breaking of the law of death and High Lord Kevin's reemergence from death.

Covenant being summoned by Triock in the third book.

Of course, the whole beginning of the second series, with the perversion of the Sunbane.

Covenant's Soothtell at the hands of the na-mhoram

Vains breaking in to the hall of gifts and finding the heels of the Staff of Law

Vain's capture and subsequent escape from the Elohim

The biggest twists/surprises that come to mind for me were:

Hile Troy - did anyone really even think that there would be another one of "us" in The Land ?

The Sunbane - now this one really irked me for the first 300 pages,I was heartbroken...but I got over it.

"Nom" - need I say more ?
Spoiler
Vain and Findail - merging to become the NSoL
...it just seemed too obvious to actually happen, but I was glad I was right.

Slaughter of The Giants - I don't think I've ever fully gotten over it*wipes tear from eye*

FoamFollower's re-emergence from Hotash Slay - I also gave a big fist pump and an "Oh Yeah!"

Failing at the Lise of the One Tree was a great big shocker..right up until the end-I figured Vain was going to slowly get turned into the staff as more and more of those starry things kept hitting him.
