spoilers within the book

forgive me if this has been brought up already, but I have avoided looking too deeply into the topics here as I have not yet finished Runes. But I have always wondered why authors put a glossary at the back of their books. I found it didn't really have an adverse effect on reading the first series, but it did on the second series (if memeory serves), and it definately does in the third (last). Casually looking up a noun in the back can reveal information prematurely! Act as a spoiler in itself.
I have always questioned why anyone would want one in the first place.

I think that the reason for wanting one would be to avoid confusion. In fantasy epics, such as the Chronicles or LOTR, there are often many proper pronouns that look and sound similar that could leave the reader puzzled. Also, the glossary can be helpful if you dont quite remember what something is from a previous book or even a previous chapter. Obviously, possible spoilers are a drawback, but I think that glossaries are made with the idea that reading with spoilers is better than not reading because of confusion.

I liked the One TRee's gloserry, when you look up Questsimoon, it says Roverheartswind.
When you look up ROverheartswind...it says Questsimoon.

This glossary I found very strange, it had some crazy things in it, that didn't come into play, like Durra Fairflanks-Cov's mount during LFB.
Don't worry Usivious, there aren't really any spoilers, other that a bit of a profile on who's in the book.

I think what SRD did was combine all the glossarsy from all the previous books, and put it into one. That whys theres a lot of non relevent info for TROTE

Unless because of the "time-travel" element in the plot the past is revisited during this last chronicles??? Therefore the Glossary would "fit"...
