Hi there, I am about to buy a computer and have been offered the choice of two processors - an AMD Sempron 2800+ or an Intel Celeron. The seller says both run at 2.8 GHz so I'm not sure which one to pick. I'll be using the computer to produce music on fruity loops and cubase so am aware I need a lot of RAM and a fast processor. Any ideas?

Welcome to The Watch Bassface. An Unusual place to make a first post for sure. Check the topic only a few threads down on Pentium Vs Celeron for some good basic info on the celeron at least.

I'd lean towards the Sempron. I believe that Sempron is a rebadging of AMD's former XP line of processors, which were their premium chip (as opposed to the budget Duron line). As the Celeron is Intel's low-power chip, I'd expect the Sempron to be a better performer but I don't know for sure.

Ah, reading this
head-to-head review I see that it's a pretty close run thing between these two processors. The Sempron has an advantage for gaming and encoding MP3s and stuff, so that's be my choice. The Celeron wins in terms of raw power though, so if you use a lot of number crinching applications then that might be a better choice.
