Anyone like this band? I'm really getting into them and I like Morrissey's solo work too.

I want to get Louder Than Bombs. Seems to be the place to start.

the Smiths were great. I would start out with...

The Queen Is Dead. (I have very fond memories of hanging out with friends, drinking and listening to this, I still sing some of the songs in the shower)

then go with Meat Is Murder (the first album of theirs that I bought back in highschool)

but Louder Than Bombs is a great review. and you can give it to a friend when you buy all the other albums! :)

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out...

Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought Oh God, my chance has come at last
(But then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da ...
Oh, I haven't got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Oh, There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out

Don't forget Hatful of Hollow. It's so good you won't believe it's a b-sides compilation.

Unless Johnny Marr ever changes his mind, it's never going to happen.....from what I gather most every one else is up for it......

and Johnny Marr made the Smiths. so the others should never do it without him. have some integrity guys!

I believe that is why they are not doing it.....integrity.

Well yeah, The Smiths had their day. I don't think they could ever re-create that sound. Their music lives forever basically. And as a fan, I'm content with that. Plus, Morrissey's new album Ringleader of the Tormentors is fantastic. An aside: Johnny Marr has sucked it up since the breakup - he was in a very average supergroup band (Electronic, I think) and he recently cut an album with his band The Healers which was awful. Which is really too bad, because he was the most talented songwriter of his era. By the way, I don't think either Morrissey or Marr are really up for a reunion. Plus, neither would get back together with Mike Joyce, who swindled them in a court deal a couple years ago. Joyce & Marr were playing Smiths songs recently, and practically all of Morrissey's tours have included a few Smiths tunes.

music - wise, they could be like the Pixies and sound great. but internal strife from the sounds of it.
