Guild Wars

...Anyone here play it but me?

It comes out on the 28th.

I played in the E3 for Everyone and World Preview Event last year and loved it and so, last weekend, I decided to preorder a copy. I played that weekend's Beta Weekend Event.

I love it even more. So much has changed. So much is better.

It is Super 3D MMORPG Diablo II Ultra XL 5000 with no monthly fees.

It is candy for the eyes, hands, and brain.

It is heavenly.

In any case, come 12:00 A.M. Pacific Wednesday morning (Or 2:00 A.M. here, as I'm in Central time), the Pre-Release Event opens! And I'll--along with my other friends that have preordered the game--will get to play it for up to 48 hours before picking it up! (The pre-release event and actual release overlap so there's not much downtime in playing the game between)

I lead a guild! (At least, in concept. I don't so much "lead" as...uh... not lead. But I have leadership powers, for all that's worth, and grant partial-leadership-powers to everyone I like and trust. Everyone's equal, to me!) It is about amiability, having a nice personality, and having fun and, generally, carrying on like a bunch of fools. :D IF ANYONE HERE PLAYS, they're more than welcome to join my little guild, as all of you more than meet the requirements of goodness.

Let me make it clear to everyone:

Guild Wars is gaming on a bun!

It's sooooo good. It's all I did last weekend. The Beta Weekend Event, which I invited my best friend to, so enthralled and captured him that he immediately, Monday, went out and preordered his *own* copy.

It has the best art direction in a game, ever. I could spend hours just exploring.

It is made by Ex-Blizzard employees.

It is an MMORPG without all of the things that make MMORPGs annoying (monthly fees, level grinding, etc).

Come join in the fun if you are as yet unenlightened! :D

Here are some websites that describe it on terms I can't quite:

www.guildwars.com Official site!

www.guild-hall.net Guild Hall! Good place. I post at the forums.

www.GWonline.com Like DiabloII.net, but for Guild Wars. Most of their information is terribly outdated, but they're good about posting news promptly.

www.guildwarsguru.com Perhaps the best of them all. A literal compedium of everything that was in the Beta Weekend Events, which is about 40% of the full game.

I heard that you have to buy each chapter you want to play... is that true? If it is, is it a pain and how much?

No monthly fees - once you buy the game you can play as much as you want. Expansions you have to buy just like with any other game, but still no fees, and you can keep playing the original game and choose not to buy them.

I bought the game today - don't know if I'll start playing tomorrow or not, as I'll be mowing the lawn and it's hard to predict how long I'll have to waste unclogging the lawnmower - could take up my whole day, heh. In any case, I'll be starting tomorrow or wednesday, if it all works... No idea what name I'll pick for my character, might end up being lazy and putting 'Murrin' in it.

I've started playing - a Warrior/Monk called Kysen Moran, currently lv.2. I always seem to feel lost in these open games, never sure which quests to take. And the skills can be a bit confusing. Anyway, I'm trying. Is it usually this hard to get gold?

Its not too hard to get gold. ;)
i would advise you to take every quest available, it not only increase wealth and experience but you also get to see more of the world aswell.
anyway i have loads of money at the moment and can give a bit if you would like.
PS> have you joined a guild?

No guild yet - got an invite, but didn't join. I've reached a point where I can't go alone any more, I think - got killed twice on the Moa Bird quest in the Catacombs, heh.
