*Shudders* I just saw that movie, Signs. Very cool. That alien is what I always invisioned a Cavewight as looking like. And the scene where the guy and the two kids were sitting on the couch wearing the tin-foil hats was so "Coke-snortingly" funny. hehe More like Sprite-snortingly funny.
Has anyone else seen it?

Tin foil hats... AHAHAHAHAHA....
We had a 'spirit' day at school and we had to dress up like something, I forget what, but me and all my friends made those hats and wore them around, it was great.
Brb... My water is dirty.

I was intensely disappointed with Signs. Too heavy handed with the message and too light on the sci-fi. Shaymalan (sp?) and Fincher both let me down last year.

yeah I must concur!! It was engaging for sure .. but really disappointed me too!
I hate plot flaws!!
but I liked the hat scene!! but what a waste of Phoenix .. a brilliant actor .. but not a bad flick all in all ...
yeah I expected a lot more from shayaman (sp?) especially after The 6th sense .. I liked that!

It has been a long time since I have seen a worse movie than Signs. I could tell you a lot of things about it that I did not like, but generally I will just say that it

, and thats about it.

Eh, I thought it was pretty cool. More chilling then scary, no?

Another what? You bumping threads, you scwewy wabbit?
Anyway, I didn't like it. Here's this minister who decided he doesn't believe in God because his wife died. It's not just a period of grief that he pulls out of - he stops believing for, what, a few years at least? Then, his son lives, and he believes again. I can't help but wonder when he'll stop believing again. I can see most people going through this if those things happened to them, but I would expect the community's religious leader to have a more solid faith. (Yeah, I know, coming from one of my religious views, this might not mean too much.)

I loved it - best alien invasion movie (apart from Invasion of the Body Snatchers '78). However, there some annoying elements - such as the advanced aliens being unable to open cellar doors, AND the aliens' chameleonic skin wouldn't actually work if you think about (clue: it's all to do with perspective).

Exactly. And what's with the
weakness of the aliens being water & yet they're going to come to a planet where it rains all the time & is 78% covered with water????
There was also too much "They're here" Poltergueist references for me.
The only scene besides the beloved tinfoil hats scene that I enjoyed was Phoenix's acting when they showed
an alien on the television while he was hid away in the closet.
Although that scene lasted too long, I felt it was well done.
The end was stupid beyond all belief, but usually movies do about as well as a Stephen King book in that regard anyway so no big loss I guess for a movie that didn't do much for me from end to end to begin with. I'd give it 1 star. I'm a very tough grader, so you might like it better.

Thanks Furls Fire! I must disagree with the assertion that Signs was...

I thought that for that very reason Signs was excellent! Capturing the human aspect of the event without delving into just another soon -to-be-on-the-Sci-Fi channel on Saturday night story.

It wasn't as good as the other two movies which the director of this film made. (Sixth Sense, Unbreakable) but it was a good film to watch if nothing else is on.

I have just watched it again on dvd and loved it. The direction is marvelous, and the message not too heavy handed.

i have loved all of M. Night's movies. but fear the surprise ending may paint him into a corner.

I agree. It's a shame that everyone is expecting some sort of great surprise ending.

people should be looking at how he paces a movie and how he gets actors to give great performaces. Willis was great in Sense and Unbreakable. in two somewhat divergent roles.

It's very rare that I hate a movie. I can generally watch ANY movie and find some enjoyment out of it. But I hate signs. I really, really, really hate it. Really. Hate it.
I enjoyed Sixth Sense, and I liked Unbreakable, but I couldn't stand Signs.
The ending of Signs just killed me. Way too retarded.
It's because of Signs, that I refuse to watch any more movies by M. Night Shalamalamalamalan.
He's on the banned list.-jay
