Well, the release of the first 3 WoT episodes tipped me into re-reading that instead.
Started with New Spring on the weekend, now busy on The Eye of the World.

Well, I actually skimmed less than I expected...turned out my memory was faulty and a lot of the important stuff I thought happened in the next book actually happened in this one.
Now however, I'm on Crossroads of Twilight, the absolute nadir of the series.
I shall plow on though, as things improve noticeably in the next book.
