Suggestion: IRC chat?

Wouldn't it be cool if we had an IRC channel for those of us who use IRC? I would certainly frequent it. Other forums have used such to great...um, stuff. Any takers? I know we have the chat here...but if it were on IRC non-Watchies could find and use it, too.

I for one think that's an excellent idea, especially as I can't use MSN (my satellite proxy hates it) - and I'm on IRC quite a lot.

Just what is an IRC channel, anyway?

I've tried to use IRC in the past and found it hellish

It's a little counter-intuitive sometimes, but I'm fond of it. If you can find a server that's fairly geographically close, you're golden. That's what gave me trouble.

A IRC channel is...basically a sort of chat room. No matter what server you connect to, the channel would be available (if we made it a #channel) and we could join it and...well chat.

I'm a big fan of IRC now that I have it...

I registered #Revelstone, in dal.net, a looooooooooong time ago. I'm Foamfollower (also Patterner) there. I think I gave Sylvanus ops in the room also. He's the one who found me in #philosophy and told me about kevinswatch.

We've brought up the idea from time to time, but there's never been much interest. Maybe there will be now.

In which case, I probably have to re-register some things, because I stopped going. I've had lots of difficulty connecting, whether the problem has been my isp or dal.net.

Dalnet is pretty much dead, taken down by viruses, scriptkiddies, spam and the RIAA. A better choice is Undernet.

I checked out #Revelstone, just out of curiosity. It's still there, if that means anything. Who knows. No one there, of course.
