Heritage
At dawn's first light,
At break of day,
Great grey stones, like a burden, lay
On grassy knoll,
On heathered hill
A wing of wind
Stirs, a chill
Feathers hair
Fingers spine
Caresses cairn in defiant line....
What forebear under bitten stone
Construed a monument to time
Mercurial annalist, ever prone
to impartiality's hateful crime
*Do you get it?*
It's Stonehenge! That's the cairn and the monument to time! Sorry...

Where is Laura? [dream recap] (1991)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The shadow-viel clicks on
in the underground
of dreamland
He fell from a stage down a tunnel
(in the real world
a killer walks among us...)
Deep drugged-out feeling
running underwater/getting nowhere
Palm fronds sway
as you look everywhere!
music? In the distance?
As if someone was searching above you
crying, "Laura?!!!!!!, Laaaauuurrra!!!!"
Suddenly you see the shadow man
an invisible shilouette
darts through dark palm fronds
There's a huge FLASH, someone shoots him
he explodes, leaving nothing!
Covered in black soot
the actor crawls out of that dead basement furnace
into which he fell
A hand touches your sweat-soaked shoulder
Your father stands by the side of the bed
saying "Laura, Laura!!!" "Wake UP!"

An untitled poem, sort of a prayer...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have seen your eagle soar across the mountain sky;
How blessed Lord, am I.
I have seen your dolphins leaping, laughing in the tropical sea;
How I am blessed by Thee.
I have seen the waves crash into the cliffs of Maine;
How transitory is any pain.
I have seen sunrise on the rims of your canyons grand;
Lord, I await to see your promised land.
Lord, a wonderful man calls me wife;
Thank you so much for my life!
For the beautiful children you lent me to raise;
I cannot give you enough praise!
Lord, my life has been a wonderful gift,
My soul in yours you uplift;
When death comes and opens its maw
May I still be calling on you in awe!

This is silly....but I like the advice
In time of need
There is one creed
That always will prevail
Insight receive
From "Do not deceive"
True vision cannot fail
Instigation,
Propagation,
And all lies to perceive
To unfold
What truth may hold
Please do not deceive

This is about my boyfriend. It's not a real poem, more like a string of random adjectives, intermittently mingled with a vaguely aesthetic line or two. Just remember it's no good, but I REALLY want to tell someone about him.
THIS IS NOT A POEM:
Strides toward me, residing in the cosmos formed of his own gait
I gladly enter his world
With repute disregarded, an infrangible forthright warmth was born inside him
Stands undiluted and honest before me, eyes penetrating mine.
Soul peircing, obsidian black orbs - try to keep his gaze like a challenge
The reach of his consciousness everywhere, does he read my soul?
Racing passion in his aura flares, a glint of argent
Two days' of beard peppers his fine jaw
Wild russet hair frames his slender face,
a trap to ensnare my condign attention.
It goes on for pages and pages, but I won't put you through that.

Look
Look at me
Tell me what you see
A mad rush
A wild crush
Silence in motion
You are my potion
Upturned wrists to slash
Getting ready for the mercy dash
Shake, shake, shake and shake
Shake, shake, shake and shake

Some more from my college stash. Don't try to understand it. Just absorb.
YOUR PLACE
A man walking down the street saw a train sitting in the middle of the road.
"What are you doing here?" asked the man. "This is not your place."
The train replied, "Toot, toot," and said no more.
"How came you here, friend train?" said the man. "Not on wings of birds to be sure." But the train said nothing, so the man walked on.
He came to another man, sitting in a tree and painted yellow with a TAXI sign on his head.
"What are you doing here?" said the first. "This is not your place."
The man replied, "Beep, beep," and said no more.
"How came you here, friend man?" said the first. "Not by trains on tracks to be sure." But the man said nothing, so the first walked on.
At last, he came to the railroad tracks. As he moved to cross, a taxi, riding on the tracks, yelled out, "What are you doing there?! That is not your place!" and ran the man over wounding him unto death.
The man replied, "Touche'" and said no more.
