Just downloaded and watched the trailer, and I'm now even more excited about this movie. You have to see this!

Warning: this is a high-quality clip, and a large file (53.2 MB). Not recommended for dial-up.

Looking pretty good. Quite a few scenes seem surprisingly close to what little I remember of the book.

[Just FYI, I believe there is a smaller version of the same trailer on the apple quicktime site, for those of you with slow connections]

I've heard the Narnia trailer is being shown in theaters before Revenge of the Sith. I have yet to go see that, so I can't say I've seen it in the theater myself.

However, it was shown on American network television during the ABC broadcast of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets during sweeps last month. Very kewl.

I've never read Narnia but I'm excited about this movie. When does it come out?

December 9th, I think.

They did not show the trailer before ROTS in the movie theater I went to. :( And with dial-up, I'm not even going to try to download this thing. :(

Nontheless, I have been hearing good things about the movie, and am looking forward to it. :) The pictures I have seen of the sets and descriptions of some of the scenes sound great. 8)

Duchess, there's a much smaller version here.
Unfortunately, it's much smaller in physical dimensions as well as file size (and I'm still not sure if it's exactly the same trailer or not).

Thank you, Murrin. :D Yes, the screen was tiny, but it did work. 8)

I saw the trailer before revenge of the Sith when I went to see it today and I can most certainly say they know how to make an amazing trailer! It puts the War of the Worlds trailers to shame (they showed 2 War of the Worlds trailers).

It had everything, even dramatic latin-choir music!

Yeah, that is the same trailer. Thanks for providing the link for the bandwidth-challenged.

Oh, man... six months to wait! :faint:

I haven't read the book and know almost nothing about the story. What little I do know comes mainly from the visuals of the trailer. My first impression was that I was watching a preview of "Lemony Snickets 2: The Lion the Witch and the Lord of the Rings." I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie more than those of you who are expecting to SEE what you imagined since reading the book when you were kids. I am again quite thankful I have no preconceptions. :-)

It's not surprising that you would pick up on a relation between J. R. R. Tolkein's LOTR and C. S. Lewis's Lion, Witch & Wardrobe. Tolkein and Lewis were very close friends, you know.

:::nodding:::

But I understand Tolkien strongly disapproved of Lewis' use of allegory, and wrote Tree and Leaf as a means to show how allegory should be done.

My younger son and I went to see ROTS again this afternoon, and still no Narnia trailer. :( :( :(

We were really hoping to see it, too -- he loves Narnia. :( :( :(

He's pretty excited that late fall/early winter will bring both the next Harry Potter movie & Lion, Witch, & the Wardrobe. It'll be a good winter for us fantasy fans. 8)

my brother Matt took my older kids to see ROTS and they told me all about the Narnia trailer...they said it looks fantastic!

I'll probably get to see ROTS at Christmas time when it comes out on DVD, about the same time everyone else in in the theaters watching Narnia..hehehe

I'm in the same boat here. Sometimes it's good to know nothing of a book, especially if you know it's going to be turned into a movie.

And being the slow reader that I am, there are plenty of books I'm blissfully ignorant about. :P

it only took me a few hours to read a The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, read it just before you go see the film, or after if you prefer. But read it.

Well, I'll think about it, Warmark. :)
