Dissecting The Land suggestion

I would love to spend some time reviewing and adding to the Dissection forums but I have a hard time with it since it's all out of sequence.

Any thought to making each chapter, or as I see it now sections of chapters, "sticky" and in order?

Maybe so the newest chapter (the last chapter in WGW) is what we see first or at the very top of the forum?

It would make ease of reading new posts dependant on the "View posts since last visit" option but I think it might be the way to go.

Though I suspect doing so might be a lot of work!
And there doesn't seem to be much if any activity there in a *long* time so I can understand if people don't see the need.
But it might kickstart the newer members to check it out.

Just an suggestion.

I'd like that too, but with Chapter one of LFB at top.

I think it may be hard to use Stickys to organize the topics, since I think all Stickied topics are still sorted by how recently they were replied to.

A while back, I started an alternative method for organizing the Dissection topics, with a page on the main Kevin's Watch site.

wam.umd.edu/~resop/discland.html

I think it would be best to do something like this, aka a fancy hardcopy HTML listing, although we can probably make it look a lot better. But I'd like to finish adding all of the links to this page, and complete it.

I'm currently in the process of redesigning the entire Kevinswatch.com main site, and I'd like to finish up putting links to all of the Dissection threads onto that main site page. It's part of my current goal to have the main Kevinswatch.com site to be more involved with the message board.

Would you like to help out with that, danlo?-jay

I've heard this before and it always puzzles me.
You would have prefered a PM about it?
Doesn't that kinda stifle any additional imput you might like to get?

I like to do everything out on the board unless it's a sensitive or personal issue. (although it did get me in trouble once. )

For instance we all wouldn't have learned or saw Jay's future plans if I just PM'd you.
Which is pretty cool by the way!
(I'm a more graphical kind of guy and enjoy the html feel/look over a message board every once and a while)

Well, I'm glad you guys liked/were already working on my suggestion.

I might be easier just to break it down by book. Have 6 Forums and then transfer all the relavent chapters into the appropriate forum. :)

Good idea Trace. |G

Or maybe sub-forums like we have for the Collective and the Waymeet?

Sounds like a plan to me.

Will this work?

: Create 1 Sticky, which has links to all the chapters of all the books, in the proper order?

A side benefit of this is that the links will open new windows, leaving the sticky topic in its own window. This would make it easier to refer to other chapters as necessary.

I think too many forums would be just as bad.

Well, right now, I'd like to just finish up my

wam.umd.edu/~resop/discland.html

idea. I still think it's the best way to go.-jay
