"The Land" Website

I found this the other day, rummaging around for some movie news.
ยป
The Land
There's a few interesting things here. For example,
Timeline of the Land seems to be very well done. It's definitely worth poking around here.
Whoever had put this together is such a devoted fan that we can be sure he is now a Watcher. I wonder who it might be. There are no names given in the site itself - but there are clues: likes hiking and weightlifting, knows Nietsche, and might say "Selah". The website seems to have been built in the 2000-2001 timeframe.

It's a very clean and well done site.
I like the small pics on the main page too, very representative of what I think things look like.
Come on!
Who did it?

Wow. Is this the same 'The Land' that many posters say led them to the Watch? If so, it appears to have had a significant redesign.
The Land and Kevin's Watch were the two big TC websites, back when the Watch was young. The timescale makes me want to think it's the same site, but I'm not sure - can anyone tell me if this is the same place or not?

It's not the same site that drew me to the watch, that site is:
theland.antgear.com/

Thanks for the link - I'll have a good look at this tonight (with my home DSL.)

Looking at both - well, the content is identical.
Aha! From the Land's updates page:
Someone who actually knows what he's doing spent some time demonstrating how
a makeover of this site could appear. For personal reasons I'll stick with the current setup, but there's no comparison ... his site visually kicks ass.
It's a redesign someone posted up as an example of how the site could look.

So the question remains,,, who did it?

His name is Sandor Szabo, I emailed back and forth with him several times back before I started coming to the Watch. His site led me here. He's a nice guy and I tried to talk him into the joining the Watch because his insights on the Chrons are awesome.
I like the new layout of his site. Way cool

Well, it's not really the 'new layout', as such - he said on the updates that he liked it, but wouldn't use it (which is why the site still exists in it's original form). I don't think that new version gets updated.
It certainly does look good, though.

Yes, it's the site that led me to KW waaay back. That sample layout does look great!
If I'm not mistaken, his Watch username is Mr. Land.

I'm not sure he posts here much--he went by the Land on the old ezboard...

The site looks stunning.
I hadn't seen it in a couple years.
However, it still links to the ezboard, not to this site.

Ah.
I had been to theland.antgear website; I failed to see the similarity to this one.
Thanks one and all - my little mystery wasn't so much.

I hope that one day, after he has finished the Last Chronicles, that Stephen Donaldson will flesh out his world's history even more, and give us some concrete dates for events. Just me, I guess, but I'd like that.

Couldn't he do that in the three years he says it'll take between books? I was disappointed after finishing TROTE that the sequal won't be out until Oct. 2007.

If you were slow like me, you could still be reading TROTE for the first time. Hehe.-jay

He seems to have fixed the link.
The redesign certainly is pretty.
But I like the original design too, which seems to have evolved a bit over the years - the middle area isn't as busy as I remember it being.
