HELP!

I switched to Firefox, and everything is great--BUT. Ever since the switch, whenever I highlight a bunch of music files at once and click "play" on the drop-down menu, WMP plays a single file randomly, instead of putting them all on the playlist at once.
Before Mozilla, I could highlight a whole album, click play, and then it would instantly load up on WMP. Now it only loads a single song, so I have to highlight them and *drag* the files to WMP.
Well, I'm just not a big fan of that, and I'd like to go back to the original way of highlighting and playing it all in one click. Any tech-peoples know how I can go back?
One last thing: some video files of mine stopped playing, so I downloaded that ACE Mega Codecs thing. Well, all my music files are now in Windows Classic format (but they can still play in WMP if I drag them over WMP). How do I get rid of Classic and then convert them back to WMP?
If I can get all this stuff solved, I think my computer will actually be problem free.
Forever in the debt of tech-peoples,

Hmm. I have absolutely no idea. If I right-click then press 'play' it opens all of them (however, right-click and 'open with' opens only the right-clicked one).
Plus, I don't see how a web browser could have anything to do with it.
Meh - I prefer winAMP for music in any case.

Yep, I set aside WMP for WinAmp a long time ago. Are you sure you don't have it set on shuffle? (if you select the "play" option at top, there should be a check mark next to the drop down where it says "shuffle" if it's on).
But to change which program you want to play which files, you (probably) have to do a few things. Well, maybe two.
First, go to 'My Computer'
Then select "Tools" and select "Folder Options"
Then select the "File Types" tab
Scroll down through all the different file types until you find the ones you want to change, say mp3.
Click on it
Then on the bottom of the window, the "Change" button should become available. Click on it.
Select the program you want to open the file type.
Done... sorta
Now you just have to open your various programs and make sure they are or aren't set to automatically open certain file types (WMP it's tools, options, file types)

Sorry, LF, I don't know what's going on with your system either. I use Firefox and Windows Media Player, and I couldn't duplicate that problem.
As for converting your files, maybe just change the extension back to .wmv? If that's an obvious and stupid suggestion that you've already tried, then...uh, well, I'm only comfortable dispensing obvious and stupid advice.

Thanks for the help, all. Managed to change my files back to regular WMP. *tips hat to Syl* Going to give WinAmp a try, so no more craziness from WMP.
How do I make WinAmp my default player, by the way?

Exactly the same way that you changed your player back to WMP, except select WinAmp instead.
Or, if you're lucky, when you install it it'll ask if you want to make it your default player.

Okay, now my movie files for some reason play in WinAmp, but they're not as good a quality as they were with WMP. How do I change movies back? Bleh.

Same way, just be sure to only change the mpeg, mpg, etc. files.

K. I just uninstalled WinAmp, because after reinstalling WMP, it now plays files the way they used to. Sorry, WinAMP, but as cool as it is to have you, I'd like one application for opening both movies and music.
