Any one catch any of Live 8 so far?
I saw Will Smith a little earlier, looked like a good crowd in Philly.

I've been watching the VH-1 version since it came on at noon EDT. I now have to run out and do some shopping. I hope I don't miss Pink Floyd!
I don't have a vcr, or any other type of recording device.

I watched it, loved it. Was a great moment when Waters said how emotional it was for him to be playing with the band again.
Only gripe I have: soulless VH1 going to a commercial during the COMFORTABLY NUMB SOLO! WTF

18 bucks to watch the similcast at the Journal Pavilion in the middle of desert scrub in 100 degree heat--what a racket! I wonder if anyone showed up?

I got back at 6:45 PM EDT and missed Pink Floyd!!! I can only hope the ABC rebroadcast does their set justice.

I'm counting on a DVD release.

I'm sure it'll be rebroadcasted because I too missed Pink Floyd.
Foul,
What songs did they play?

To my recollection, they began with Breathe, then Money, Wish You Were Here, and Comfortably Numb. I think that was it, but there might be more. Wish You Were Here was amazing, because at the beginning, Roger said over the microphone something like: "This is such an emotional moment for me to be up here with these guys!" It was great. So was their playing too. Very soulful and great sound.

LF,
Hm. "Breathe"? I love that song, but it's an interesting choice don't you think? Not one of their most popular or even recognizable songs, not by far.

Well, I'm glad they went with it. It's a nice opener, I think; it opens Dark Side of the Moon, after all

. Personally, I'd be kind of disappointed if all they had played were the predictable 70s hits (Money, etc.) I mean, they did play them, and that's expected, but I think it's nice they put a little variation in the set list by sticking Breathe in. One of my favorite Floyd songs, it!

The cause is noble, but I had no interest in the concerts themselves. Now, if a Police reunion had been part of the show...

I'm disappointed they didn't play my favorite, "Time."

I started watching the VH1/MTV coverage. I made it about an hour and got disgusted with it. I saw 8 minutes of music, but not a single complete song. I saw a bunch of comercials, and a lot of 20-something boneheads jabbering about how cool and how important the concert was.

dlb,
Yes I love "Time" as well, but two songs from Dark Side was probably enough.
Cail,
Yeah, the MTV/VH1 people were dumbasses. Like my dad said, they should have had more people that understood the issues, not just people repeating the same crap over and over again. Plus, they should have shown ummm more music?! Ugh.

Well, at least Sting appeared.

True, Menolly...but we know that's not the same thing, heh heh.
I read in the news that the crowds at the Canadian concert had booed a performance from Celine Dion in Las Vegas via satellite. I found that vastly amusing! The music fans have spoken.
