Snacks

Ever since I've trimmed down, I'd have to say my favorite snacks are bagels and granola bars. They've saved me from many less healthy cravings. I especially love those Quaker Oatmeal Chewy bars. Awesome stuff!
During my beached whale days, I used to devour whole bags of Flipz chocolate pretzels. Don't go near the things anymore, but I do recall how blissfully good they were.
Grapes are also great to snack on. Baby carrots too. Raisin, apple sauce. Apples, too!

:::sigh:::
None of those things are acceptable if you're low carbing...

But they are if you're exercising.

I only snack on savoury things, I don't care much for sweet stuff.
Biltong, crackers, chips... bring 'em on, and pile on the salt!

Nope, not even then.
I might be allowed a few grapes, or a slice of apple once I'm further along in low carbing (only in the second week here), but most fruits and non-
whole wheat items are pretty much taboo for life. And even whole wheat items are highly restricted on maintenance. I can pretty much forget about pasta, pizza, rice, etc.
Sure, once I'm on maintenance, I can indulge once in a very great while. But I need to keep in mind that I may have to go back to the induction phase of low carbing for a week or two afterwards.

You sure that's a diet? Looks like a nightmare to me!;)
But anyway: I suppose it's different for everyone. I jog everyday (and plus I'm twenty), so I suppose I can get away with more than the average person. I ate out two days in a row (chinese food and italian) and then had chocolate cake the day after, and I'm hardly feeling it. Of course, that'll change as the years wear on, but, once I'm on my own, I'll probably be eating Healthy Choice TV dinners by the ton, instead of these damned big feasts my grandmother calls "dinner".

Marinated and dried raw meat.
And, no: it's nothing at all like beef jerky.

I basically snack on what I want, when I want. However, blackberries are pretty much the best thing ever.

Like blueberries? I'm a blueberry fanatic. Blueberry oatmeal, bagels, shampoo, you name it.

Edge, I assume that's beef? It's safe to eat uncooked?

Seriously, if they weren't only ripe for a month or two, I would probably never eat anything else.

Yes, you can read about about the different versions at
Atkins Nutritional Approach and/or
About the South Beach Diet.
But, while I have to give up most
simple carbohydrates, on Atkins I can indulge in full fat foods, including lobster in drawn butter, egg benedict served on a grilled portobello mushroom instead of an english mussfin, etc.

Absolutely safe; it's been cured.
Can be beef.. or ostrich, or crocodile, or springbok, etc... it's all good.

Edge, my family cringes, but I love raw meat. I bet I would love biltong!
I always think of blackberries as raspberries that have ripened even further. But Paul assures they're a differnt berry.

They are
absolutely different berries.
