A cousin of mine recently sent me a copy of LFB that i've never seen before. He thinks it's a 1st edition,I can't tell. The cover-art is from S.C.WYETH.(Shows COVENANT atop the WAtch)It's published by Holt,Rhinehart and Winston from New York in 1977.But the most interesting thing is picture of(a very young) SRD on the back jacket with a grey cat perched on his left shoulder.
has anyone else seen this edition??

Yep, I have it. I have all the 1st editions and all 1st edition PB's too. The PB's are the ones I read over and over again. The HC's are keep nice and unread in my library.

I've only seen library copies of these editions. At first I didn't like Wyeth's bland-looking covers at all...but I've come to accept their simple charm. I think the cover for TIW is the best one.

One of the libraries I frequent has the first editions of the Chronicles, exactly like the one you're describing. Those actually were the first copies of the Chronicles that I ever saw or read before I got the series in paperback for myself.

The earliest copy I have of LFB is this one:

I thought it might be a first ed, but SRD assured me otherwise at the Manchester reading. It does have the picture he affectionately refers to as "the author as a fag" which preceeds the later "author as big game hunter" picture.
