My two copies will be coming that day from Amazon. I suspect I will have to hide the flashlights so the kids don't stay up overnight again.

We're actually getting 5 copies. One each for Brooke, Heidi, Ryan, Jordan and myself. Micah and Tristan aren't big readers on their own and Chelsea is just learning but they just LOVE Harry Potter, so we'll all take turns reading it to them.
The party is at the Barne's and Noble in Bend, I think it starts around 6pm and lasts until 1:30am. Russ took the older kids there for the OotP party in 2003 and they had a blast. They all have their costumes ready for it and are checking off the days on the calender.
Such a fun time

I was thinking of taking Beorn if any of our local stores are doing them. We haven't gone before. Is it an atmosphere with his SID he may find overwhelming and start to act out, or is controlled chaos that with me with him he'll be able to handle?

New Potter book leaks in Canada
Court injunction orders readers to remain mum
Monday, July 11, 2005; Posted: 4:39 p.m. EDT (20:39 GMT)
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) -- Harry Potter's latest secret has slipped out in Canada, and publishers of the best-selling books hope the magical allure of author J.K. Rowling's autograph will get it back under wraps.
Rowling's sixth book about the young wizard is scheduled to be released July 16, but a store near Vancouver briefly put the put the book on sale last week.
Raincoast Books Ltd., which distributes the books in Canada, said a "small number" of the books were sold, and it has won a court injunction barring the buyers of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" from disclosing the plot.
The court also ordered all the copies be returned to Raincoast, which has promised the early buyers book plates autographed by Rowling once the embargo is lifted.
Millions of copies of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" are expected to be distributed to stores around the world, and publishers have launched big security efforts to keep the wizard's adventures a secret until the official release date.

This time I am bound and determined to go to a book store for the THE EVENT. I'll probably head on over to The Gove and the B&N there. If it is cool enough (in Los Angeles in July? HA!) I may wear my cape.

I found out our local Books-A-Million is having a party on July 15 from 9:00 PM to Midnight. Beorn and I will definitely go.
However, I was told they will not be selling the book after the event until they reopen the next day. In order to leave with a copy of the book in hand you have to pre-purchase it and show the purchase waiver to receive the book at the end of the party.
I am so disorganized that I am fearful I'll loose my waiver if I prepurchase. But, Beorn will not understand leaving without a copy in hand. So, off to prepurchase I go...

When I worked in a book shop for the releases of
Goblet of Fire and [/i]Order of the Phoenix[/i], the boxes arrived covered in notices about the legal consequences of selling the book before the international release time/date. Whoever did this is asking for trouble.
But anywho. Whitcoulls is selling
Half Blood Prince for only NZ$29.99 (US$20.00 or so), which is so cheap. YAY!

Damn. It's too late to change my amazon.com order to an earlier shipping date. I'm worried I won't get the book before I leave for Maine on Wednesday... I think my mom's actually going to have to mail it to me up there - otherwise I'll have to wait almost three weeks before I see it. Argh!

Did you pre-order from Amazon before the deadline? If so, the book will be delivered on Saturday.

I ordered it months ago, and it is supposedly coming this weekend. They have some sort of guarantee on that, if you ordered it by a certain date. So you will probably be just fine.

If you want a copy and the local bookstores are sold-out, I found a perfect place to purchase "Half-Blood"...
at a major AIRPORT!
(The local Barnes & Noble sold out in hours.)
I went to pick my parents up at Tampa International Airport yesterday afternoon and
while waiting for their flight to arrive, I noticed 3 or 4 stacks of the new Harry Potter books.
STACKS of them!
The clerk in the airport bookstore claimed that only 3 books were sold that day.
If I had the money for one, I would had bought one for myself. (I like Harry Potter stories)
