Has anyone watched this? Will they truly find a replacement for Michael Hutchence out of the line-up on this show?

This was disscussed on the radio this morning with one of the group members. (98 ROCK in the Tampa area)

There were 50 "contestants" that were picked by INXS to try out for the spot.
It was said that the show is an audition and, though they are some favourites, it will be a "best man wins" contest.

I saw about 2 minutes of it last night-this one girl was very hot and some dweeb tryed to be Mick Jagger--they both it up stunk to high heaven--like American Idol I simply can't stand these types of shows. 8)

I haven't watched any of this but from what I have heard, Michael Hutchence must be spinning in his grave. :(

I never heard of this show...but then I don't follow this whatever-Idol type crap. It's sad that INXS would sink this low. Not that INXS was ever a favorite band of mine, but you'd think they would have more self-respect than this.

I saw a commercial for it, and was wondering how they could use 'INXS' in their title. Now I know. But, like when I met my mother-in-law, this new knowledge has done anything but help me.

I was discussing this show with my wife the other day. (haven't watched it by the way). I pointed out there there have been a few bands that have lost the lead singer and found renewed success. AC/DC, VAN HALEN, GENESIS to name but a few. But success these days seems to hinge upon the young connecting with the young, well for themost part (U2's youthful audience doesn't seem to be bothered by the band becoming middle aged) INXS might manage something on the senior tour but charting is unlikely even if they manage to find a suitable replacement. IMHO.

Yes, but they found their replacements behind the scenes, which I guess just seems more appropriate to me than auditioning for replacements on national TV! But I guess that's the "Idol" mentality that's out there now. And maybe I've got the wrong attitude about all of this: the lead singer of any band naturally hogs the limelight anyway, so maybe it's just as well to have a contest for a singer who wants all the attention. :?

"Idol mentality"? Puh-leeze. I think you're grossly exaggerating things, Matrix. I think INXS should hire either Bo Bice or Constantine Maroulis, and tour with the winner of "Hit Me Baby 1 More Time".

Spoiler
No matter what, they'll still be better than the sum total of rap, industrial, country, pop, and emo

Guess it wouldn't the first time I've "exaggerated" things and been played for the fool.

Wait...look, dAN, up there in the sky! It's Martian ships! They're broadcasting some announcement over the air...and it sounds suspiciously like Orson Welles's voice!

You know I think that might work. Constantine for example would probably fit the INXS style pretty well and since he created quite a following during AI he would certainly help INXS sell a ton of cds. These singing contest reality shows have certainly turned the likes of Kelly Clarkson into a recognizable name on the pop charts so who knows. Its glitzy shtick but in some cases its given genuine undiscovered talent a chance to find success.

I hear it! It's saying "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US"! Oh, no! Someone set up us the bomb! We have no chance to survive make our time!!

That's true, but, don't you think that the odds they will be taken seriously are rather slim?

An old band with a young singer? Wasn't there some film like that with Mark Walhberg? :?
