Anyone read this book before? I have to read it for school this summer. :?

I'm interested in its quality - Book 1 of the Arthurian Cycle. Is it any good? Easy to read?

It's one of my favorite Arthurian novels. :) I wish I could have been able to read something as good for school. :| :| :| :|

It tells of the childhood of Merlin, a bastard prince of Wales, and how he comes to power as an enchanter. :)

I read this book years and years ago, when I was in college, as well as all the sequels that follow it. Great story. 8)

Been so long since I read this that all I remember is how I enjoyed it. (Don't think I ever saw the sequels though.)

Damn, but it looks a bit long though. However, good summer reading this year: I'm also reading Fahrenheit 451 and 2001: A Space Odyssey. A good year for a fantasy nerd.

Farenheit 451 is excellent. One of my all-time favourites.

Summer's long over but the Mary Stewart series is a powerful read - Arthurian legend presented as (mostly) historically plausible. Great stuff.

The Arthurian legend by Mary Stewart is also my favorite version of this legend, also one of the very old books of mine.
Lord Mhoram, I hope you enjoyed the reading, which is quite some time ago. :)

Would have prefered such literature in school
