March of the Penguins

I saw this with my 3 year old daughter last week. This was the first time that she and I have seen a movie together, so it was kind of a treat for me.

I have to say that this movie is really good, but my 3 year old just didn't quite understand what was happening most of the time, and she fell asleep about 2/3 of the way through.

I do recommend this movie to anyone with small children (but hopefully older than 3 years old.)

I liked it--very educational. Amazing the way they filmed it-I for one wouldn't want to work close to a year in -80 degree temps filming. Don't know why I spent 6 bucks when I could rent it for 4 or eventually see it for free on cable--but other members of the fam wanted to. Winged Migration was much better, but then again the subject matter varied.

If it features penguins in any capacity at all, Hannah will compel me to see it.

What's a penguin?

It's looks very cute from the commercials, simply for the penguins. But what's it about? Does it have a plot?

Penguins are practically chickens!

So, I take from the lack of a response, there is no plot? Just cute penguins?

Penguins can't act, therefore there cannot be a plot. But, that does not mean that I think penguins are hot. Now, it might mean that Syl thinks Jessica Alba is a penguin, but I'm not the one to ask about that. :screwy:

Plot is simply their horendous 70 mile breeding march and struggle to stay alive in inhuman (but not inpengy) cold.

That'd be unfair to penguins, wouldn't it, dAN? Heh, I don't even think Alba would be believalbe in a documentary.

But she is unbelieveably hot.

Yeah - Jessica Alba in a penguin documentary would be perfect casting.

Esoecially if she dressed as a nun.

I think I like this Hannah of yours.

Penguins are great... Just the way they walk made me giggle for ages. And their noises! Ah, I loved it. :D

My younger son and I watched this one Friday night on dvd. We both love nature documentaries, and loved this movie. :)

Some of the extras -- about how they filmed it, and the part where they mounted a "critter cam" on the back of a wild penguin to film what it does while diving under the ice where pretty interesting, too. :)
