The Return of Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod!

Duncan MacLeod is coming back, and here is what Adrian has to say about it:

"A new Highlander film is scheduled to start shooting later this year in Eastern Europe. David Abramowitz, the head writer on Highlander: The Series, is putting the final touches on the script for this new adventure. Once the script is approved, the film will go into pre-production.

I always said I would never do another Highlander film unless I had more control over the final product. Well, this time I am the Executive Producer. When the rights fell back to Davis-Panzer Productions, Peter Davis approached me to star and executive produce.

Brett Leonard (Lawnmower Man) is set to direct. Get ready to see a new Highlander film that has the quality of the television series with a new look and sound for 2006. Everyone is excited to be able to produce something that we'll have more control over, while revamping this successful franchise.

And yet, I hate to say it, I will go see this movie. I will not, however, make a special opening-day trip for it like I did when the last one came out. That was way too much of a disappointment.

Methos better be in it, too!

There is only one Highlander film - the first one. All others pale in comparison.

I agree. I would have liked to see more of the TV-show though. I cannot really remember much of it.

Yes, they should have stopped making movies after the fantastic original.

The tv show was also fantastic. Apples & oranges, though. More time to develp characters and have long-running plot lines. And some absolutely incredible episodes here and there! Duende

Suffice to say and to echo dlbpharmd's comment "There can be only one" and I wish so badly that were true.

There was only one Highlander movie. The others were mass hysteria resulting from Bad Twinkie Consumption (BTC).

The series was good, but, as someone said above, apples and oranges.

AP IS quite yummy looking.

METHOS is BETTER looking.

AND JOE!!!! JOE is the best of all. *drool*

I say they better dig Richie up because he has got to be major P>O>ed being buried alive in that stupid vault in France for all these years.

Well, I have never seen the series, but, c'MON!... Chris Lambert was only one notch better than a wet paper bag in the acting department...

I second Usivius's opinion on Lambert. We like to dump on, say, Hayden Christiansen for his wooden acting as Anakin Skywalker, so I think it's only fair for me to also point out Lambert's own resemblance to a log. In fact, just take away the "t" in his last name and substitute the "a" for a "u" and you get...

I only saw the original Highlander movie, and only because Sean Connery was in it. I'm probably speaking heresy here among fans, but I failed to see what was so special about the movie that made it such a cult phenomenon. (Out of respect for Highlander fans, I emphasize it's a failure on my part to appreciate it; many people are obviously passionate about the Highlander mythos.)

Denial is a wonderful river to boat on, isn't it?

I never said CL was a good actor, either. The movies (yeah, I liked the director's cut of the second one) and the series drew me in because of the unique story they were telling.

I addressed this whole "He/she can't act" thing in the Sin City thread, and I think it applies here, too. I like the original film, a lot. I hated what little I've seen of the othe films, and really didn't like what little I've seen of the TV series. But, none of that means these guys can't act.

I agree with deLION. If you want to know what the true and honest value of acting is, just take a few minutes and watch TEAM AMERICA WORLD POLICE. I think the film puts the correct spin on what acting is genuinely good for.

The first movie was great. Brilliant. One of the best. The others movies were awful. Terrible. Vile. I could go on.

The series, I liked a lot. Unfortunately, it was difficult (like impossible) to reconcile it with the movie.

For me, there were two main attractions to it. First and foremost was the whole concept. Second, were the swords. As a collector of edged instruments of all types, and a one-time fencer myself, the swords get me every time.

Oh yeah...Methos rocked.

One of my friends wrote a really interesting essay about the role of Richie Ryan in the Highlander series--if you are a fan of the series in general or Richie in particular, this is a MUST READ.

I knew AM back when I was heavily into Highlander and hung out almost exclusively on the rhyser forums. Unfortunately, when Season Sux came along, the board became highly polarized and our little corner of Fandom got torn assunder.

The Rise and Fall of the Rhysher Highlander Empire would make a very interesting soap opera. Unfortunately, it would only be appreciated by rabid fans of Highlander.

Agreed. But just seeing them, (even knowing they were replica's at best), was great. (Although it always spawned the "I want..." feeling.) *shrugs*
