Honestly, I do like several of your choices. I was trying to give the range of emotion. We had the two extremes either way, so I got to play indifferent. Which is better than a tree in a school play.

I'm sure a tree can convey any amount of emotion, if played by the right actor...

Tam and I have been getting into (the ABC show) Combat Hospital lately and it drives me crazy when every single freaking time I see

Deborah Kara Unger I say, as I did way back when in this thread, she should play Sorus and the Gap MUST be filmed!!!

I've agreed with you on that one before, and I can still see it... But I am going to stay with my vote for Michelle Forbes as Sorus. She's so frakking amazing in antagonistic roles.

Hell, I'd just been thinking about using that avatar again.

And yes - the Gap must be filmed!

It should be done as an HBO-series:) Quite a big proportion of the books happen in interior locations, well suited for a TV-drama, IMO.

Can't believe I've never stumbled across this forum before.

Ok I read The Real Story in 1993 so these are the people I pictured at the time in the three major roles:

Morn: Jennifer Connelly - I know she's not blonde but I'd had (have) a crush on her since Labyrinth and she'd just done Career Opportunities and The Rocketeer.

Angus: John Goodman - visually I think he had the look but was too much of a comedic actor to pull it off.

Nick: William Petersen - based on Manhunter and Young Guns II

They are of course now all too old so if I was to cast it today:

Morn: Emma Watson
Angus: Vincent D'Onofrio
Nick: Josh Holloway

Hi! I'm new on this forum, but have been a Stephen Donaldson fan for more than 30 years. Ever since reading "The Gap Series", (which, in my opinion is, the greatest story of any genre I have ever read!) I have always dreamed of seeing it come to life on the big screen! It would, of course, have to be an adults only rated, multiple part epic (sort of like Star Wars for grown-ups) I have had many ideas for this (Liv Tyler to play Morn Hyland for one!) and would really like to know if there is anything planned to make this a reality?

So far as I know, nothing has really come of any plans yet.

Still, always nice to have a new member on board. Certainly agree that the Gap is SRD's best work.

And this is the place to be for any news that might crop up on the subject.

As well as discuss SRD's writing, not to mention a whole slew of other things. (He has some new novellas out btw, see the Announcements forum. Or the Gen SRD one.)

Just watch for spoilers for the last chrons. We try keep it clear, but there may be some. And obviously the last chrons forums are full of them.

So there I was, watching a re-run of Goldeneye the other day, when lo, I see this guy who looks very close to how I always imagined Hashi Lebwhol when I read the Gap. (Does that happen to anyone else?)

So a couple IMDB clicks later I see he is Alan Cumming. (X-men fans know him.) And, if anything, as he's gotten older he's even more Hashi to me.

How exciting is that?

Muss up the hair, smear the glasses, and replace the oxford shirt with a disheveled lab coat...and the look works.

Alan definitely has the chops to play the role as well. His role as a political chief-of-staff on The Good Wife showcases his ability to portray a many-leveled schemer with strong (but ambiguous) loyalties.
