The GAP filmed!

Sure, and why not? :) Let's make it into a 14-hour Technicolor Dream! (although I doubt Morn's and Angus' little joyride could escape the censor's scissors...) Or let's make it into a TV series, interminably long! Most of the story takes place in confined spaces, ships, stations etc. anyway.

So whom could you imagine taking the roles of the different characters?

.. the thought of the Gap in film doesn't sit well with me .. perhaps for all the same reasons as the TCTC not being well suited to film .. but if only an academic exercise .. I am happy to humour such a deliberation ..

Morn ..
  • I see her as someone with presence
  • tall and commanding (even though for a great part of the series she plays the role of the victim-yet this role should not sit well with her)
  • dark hair - was it black in the book?
  • a remarkable and natural beauty (unique - not hollywood)
  • hmmm I have no idea??
  • who plays that woman who is 7 of 9??
Angus ..
  • Not an attractive man in more ways than one
  • Bitter .. twisted
  • sleazoidish
  • someone who could give expression to the dynamic nature of the Angus character
  • what about John Malkovich??
  • or Bruce Willis
  • Sean Penn?
I know Bruce Willis seems wrong for so many reasons .. but hey .. I cant think of any suitable current actors offhand ..

Nick ..
  • pretty boy
  • self-serving
  • cunning
  • not to be trusted
  • also sleazoidish
  • Ben Affleck-esque or maybe older
Mikka ..
  • weatherworn but not entirelyunattractive
  • I see her as fair haired- blonde maybe even a rustic red
MIn ..
  • I see her as a neat as a pin type
  • not a hair out of place
  • pristine in her appearance and demeanour
  • Also with pitch black hair
  • but shorter than Morn
  • I see her as a relatively short woman
again I have no idea???

blaah blaah .. it seems so hard to cast the characters in the Gap to me .. well there is enuff food for thought .. something to rip into at any rate ..

I suppose I'm just listing some of my favorite actors here...

Morn: Franka Potente (hopefully she can do an American accent)

Angus: Bruce Willis (uglified)

Nick: Johnny Depp

Holt: Ben Kingsley

Warden Dios: Anthony Hopkins

Mikka: Sigourney Weaver

Vector: Robert Duvall

Milos: Ralph Fiennes

Min: Jodie Foster

Hashi: Christopher Walken (a bit tall though)

Or have Morn played by Naomi Watts (blonde from Mulholland Drive) and let Franka play Mikka.

The movie couldn't be done in the U.S. though because of all the sexual violence.

... then have Sigourney Weaver play Sorus and Patrick Stewart play The Bill.

I like alot of ur picks, robo!

But I always had my heart set on Walken playing Marc Vestible--he'd make a great Amnion hybrid, don't u think..

Sigourney Weaver would be a great Mikka: stern, not very beautiful, quite experienced with scifi-stories...

I think Vin Diesel would make a great Angus. When I first saw Pitch Black, I was like,"OMG, that guys is soooo Angus!". He's very edgy and seems to know how to handle himself.

The black guy--in Pitch Black

Yes very cool! I vote 4 Vin Diesel 2! but b careful of the abuse scenes or the ACLU and the NAACP will outlaw the film!

I never thought of Angus being an Afroamerican but what the heck.

I thought it was pretty clear that Donaldson meant him to be white especially in light of his mention that Dolphe Ubikwe was black, but it doesn't really matter to me for a movie. You're not going to get identical looking people to play all the parts - it's the acting that matters most.

I think Vin is too young. I have some ideas for a movie (4 movies actually) and will post them soon. I still think Willis (with some makeup to make him uglier and fatter) might be able to play Angus - but a very different Angus than in the books. He'd have to be toned down.

Vin Diesel is cool with me and he could wear make up to make him a little older and chunkier too .. but Willis is ok too. Or what about Billy Zane with make up and fat sacks attached to his body? nah I just like Vin Diesel

Angus and Nick

I see both Angus and Nick as similar in age but vastly different in appearance - Angus = Harvey Kietel and Nick = Pierce Brosnon as far as The Great Worm....hmmm, I'm thinking WALKEN!

I don't think Walken is dignified enough - I'll stick with Ben Kingsley
Walken could play The Bill though.

Ben Kingsley for Nick?? .. isnt he a bit too old to play 30+ Angus .. what was Angus 30 something or 40 something? I forget now ..

Nick - how about Ben Affleck .. pretty boy and still solid ..

Angus could be played by .. Matt Damon .. he has a 'toadie' thing going ..

No, Kingsley as Holt.
