Stave

OK, this is a dumb reason to start a thread, but I have been reading ROTE finally (got my trade paperback a couple of weeks ago), and about two-thirds of the time, instead of reading the name as Stave, my mind fills in the more familiar "Steve". I catch myself thinking of this guy as a laid-back fella named Steve instead of a hard-ass Haruchai named Stave.
Stupid brain.

"Brinn and Cail" as "Brian and Carl" in the Second Chronicles!

DOH!
I JUST picked up my "new" copies of the "old" books, to re-read so ROTE will have a little more impact and familiarity, dam its been so long! And NOW ,
Brian and
Carl are there! The fat plumbers with the butt cracks I used to work with......

You two made me snort Dr. Pepper with the last two posts - good virtual timing.
I used to work in public radio, and I did the same thing to the classical announcers - I'd pronounce Shostakovich as "Show-STACK-uh-vich" and get them hesitating. Great fun as they were always so uptight.

Looks like we might have to have a rematch Esmer. I'm not sure I can live with the name Sally. Maybe I will have an advantage as you must be in a lot of pain from snorting cofee.
