Critique Group Recruitment

I would like to put together a critique group for reviewers, to help each other catch grammar errors and confusions before sending reviews out to various zines. The one I have been in fell apart under the impact of Katrina and Rita, but half the members weren't very knowledgeable anyway.

For that matter, my website could use some more reviewers, if you are interested. So don't let "never reviewed before" stop you from joining the critique group.

Duchess, Aliantha, Matrixman, Ainulindale and your group? The first people who leap to mind. I'll set it up if I get sufficient interest.

Not quite sure what a critique group is and what it does? :? :)

I second duchess's question. :)

Members read over each other's writing and make comments and suggestions. The goal is to give a helpful difference in viewpoint, not to rewrite anyone's work.

I meant to add, we also review movies on Reviewers' Choice. We wanted to do music too, but didn't have anyone to write about it.

Well, Dragonlily, I'm flattered that you mentioned my name for this project. But I feel I may be out of my depth here: I'm not as well-read as you and duchess (and many other Watchers) are. I don't possess a deep literary knowledge base, so I fear that might make me a shallow kind of book reviewer. However, if you think I might be of service to your group, then I'm willing to give it a try -- if there is sufficient interest, as you say.

(I think I would feel more comfortable - and competent - as a movie or music reviewer, just to let you know. )

You've written some impressive stuff on music, Matrixman. You would be welcome wherever you feel comfortable.

Matrixman would be great in music reviews. :)

I'm flattered that you thought of me, but things are pretty busy these days. How much time would be needed? :?

Occasionally is fine for writing reviews, Duchess. More-or-less daily involvement in the critique group is requested, because everybody needs outside opinions.

I write roughly one review per week, and my partners consider me prolific.

Fist, now that we're talking about movie and music reviews, are you interested? I already know you'd be good at it if you felt so inclined.

Gee, thanks, DL -- I'm flattered that you thought of me. I could probably help with line edits/critiques. PM me.

I just noticed this thread, I could help if you still need another critique helper. Where is your web site?
