Has anyone else seen the series "Firely"? I recently discovered it and found I really love it! I didn't think I would. I saw the movie "Serenity" the day it came out as well.

I absolutely loved it! I tried describing to a friend of mine before we went to see it the day it premiered. I had seen some of the episodes before that day. I described it as space cowboys and cuss in Chinese. LOL She is not a big one to go in for SciFi, but she ended up loving it too. She especially liked River. Same with my other friend... I took her for her bday and she is into SciFi. She also loved River the most.

I thought the Operative was a great character also. I wonder if they'll do another movie.

They have a three-picture deal with Universal which, although being far from a guarantee, suggests that a trilogy is quite likely given the success of the first film. There's also talk of a Dark Fury style animated prequel which will fill cover the period between the end of Firefly and Serenity.

Thanks, I had not heard that.

I'm a huge Firefly fan and I've seen the movie Serenity twice. I thought it was superb.

However, I doubt if we'll see sequels, since the movie is a domestic bomb at the box-office, already out of the top twenty and making less than 25 million, I believe. It will need to make great money overseas and also do very well in DVD sales, for the studio to give it another theatrical treatment.

Damned shame. :(

I bought the Firefly set the other day, though I haven't had chance to watch any of it yet. I wanted to see Serenity too, but it lasted less than a week in every cinema in Nottingham :?

When Serenity comes out on DVD, I think I'm gonna buy a copy for everyone I know.......it's a great christmas gift, and if enough people do it, I might get a Serenity II out of the deal....

Well, everybody loves DVDs and it was sales of the Firefly set that got Serenity made in the first place. I hadn't realised it'd done badly at the box office, it recieved good reviews and I caught it a good three weeks after release.

Joss Whedon has said that he'd prefer to continue Firefly in movies, though if a network offered to pick up the TV series he'd "probably say yes". It would have to be somone other than Fox though, as Whedon has vowed never to work with them again. There would be pros and cons if Firefly came back to TV I think. Some aspects of the plot were definitely 'movie' in scale, namely:
Spoiler
the character exits and Kaylee and Simon getting together.
Serenity has probably left big gaps in what would have been the story arc for the series, so a return to TV would represent a challenge for the writers. In contrast, there were plots from the series that were unlikely to recieve sufficient time in movies, like the recurring characters and Mal and Inara's relationship.

I really can't say which I'd prefer, more movies or another series on TV. I'll be happy as long as the story continues, whatever the screen.

Amen. Tom thinks if it were to reappear on tv, it would be a cable show. If that's the case, I'll get cable.

I finally got round to watching my Firefly set over the last couple of days. I sincerely hope whoever cancelled it does burn in hell. This is even worse than the premature end of Dark Skies. It stumbles to halt just as everything is starting to get going! Just as I'm starting to know the characters, learning to tolerate Jayne and not finding River so annoying...
