(mod edit -- since so many people are participating, I'm going to turn this into an announcement so it'll be up at the top of the page, so as to be easy for people to find when they enter the Hall. I also added "2005" to the thread title, in hopes that this can become a yearly tradition for us. :) In December, I will change it back to a normal thread. ~duchess)

I did it last year, and it was invigorating!!

In the IBDOF we have a nano thread set up--and those of us who did it posted our daily output there and got great feedback.

It was wonderful, and I'm signed up for it already.

Come and join the fun!!

Heard about this first a year or two ago.
After a lot of deliberation, I'm going to sign up. I don't expect to make the word count (I doubt I'll break 10k) but it's the process that's important, not the result, right?

yes, process! good for you!!! :)

Hell no  I don't think I have enough creativity for 50, 000 words. Good luck to you all though :)

I know I can't write novel-length and I'm trying.

I'm not doing this to write a novel, I'm doing this to finally try and get into the habit of writing more and writing often (something that has been improving recently anyway). As I said, I doubt I'll make even half the 50,000 word target.

Fair point - I try to write at least something, however rubbish, every day, but I've been doing badly with that lately. I suspect if I signed up for this thing, I'd just end up not doing it.

36 hours to go, and I'm starting to get a bit nervous.
