Hyphens in User Titles

For a while now I've been trying to decide on a title. A moment ago I tried to buy "Demondim-niece" but it turned out hyphens are not allowed. Why is that?

That can't be right... Ur-Bane has a hyphen in his title.

You must have bought the title privelige, so try going back to the store, selling the title you have, and then purchasing a new title.

Hope it works...

Ur-bane has a hyphen in his username, not in his user title. The error message I got for my title change (to replace Servant of the Land) indicated hyphens were the problem.

Yep, you'll just have to do without it, I'm afraid.

I tried to have the title Trinity-mate when I first joined. But, alas...

:) Sorry, I realised afterwards about the name/title thing...I caught your thread coming out of a 3-hour meeting, and about to leave...so was rushed.

Aah well.

Having completed the Rites of Unhyphenating, I am now Wayfriend, the Unhyphenated One. I go into the wilderness to write vague comments in the Tank; lucky will be those who encounter me.

That Rank is Invalid, it must only contain characters A-Z, a-z and 1-0. For more specific titles talk to an admin.
I think that probably could be changed in a text file (or if not, source file) somewhere. I think there could be something like the regular expression [A-Za-z1-0]+ to which the hyphen could be added. I think "-" or \- would probably do the work so that the hyphen is not mistaken to mean a range but the specifics depend on the implementation of course.

I'd expect it'd be in a php file in the /includes/ folder, probably a one created specifically for the store mod. But I'm fairly sure there's a valid reason for not using /, -, etc.

Which mod do we use here, anyway?

As much of a sore wound it is to go without a hyphen, I'm afraid nothing can be done; unless the admins of this site choose to change the setting... I assume that can be done through some process or other, but it probably means a bit of work... I'll pm Vain.

I don't see any problem. :P

Ok, so I cheated to get mine. Hehe. ;)

I'm not sure what the underlying problem is for not allowing users to have odd cheacters in their title. I'll check the admin panel, but I think it's part of the structure of the board code, so it's a question for Vain, heh.-jay

We're on version 2 point something :) If I remember correctly, hyphens are the root of all evil and that's why they're banished..........

I thought the love of money was the root of all evil?
