Covenant's bargain in Lord Foul's Bane

I'm nearning the end of Lord Foul's Bane and I don't understand what the bargain was that Covenant made. He keeps mentioning 'his bargain' but I'm not sure what he means. I think this 'bargain' was in the Ringthain's Choice chapter but I've re-read it and cannot figure out what it is.
I know he asked the Ranyhyn to visit Lena once a year but what does that have to do with his 'bargain'?
Could someone clarify this for me please?
Thanks,
Dan

TC also asked the Ranhyhyn to come if he ever called, thereby sparing him from having to exert any power or choice to save or damn the Land. This is why the Ranhyn were in such trouble in TPTP because they had to stick around in case Covenant needed them. he also asked the Ranyhyn to 'back off', also including the Land/Earth itself in his request. he didn't want the Ranyhyn or the Earth to place any pressure on him to save them/it so asked for their forebearance. he then decided he needed something more tangible than their acceptance of his disbelief which is when he made his bargain.

The thing you need to remember is that TC pretty much hates himself. back in the 'rea' world he's impotent and everyone is shunning him. He's all too aware that he's powerless and that any delusion of power will effectively kill him (take a quick glance through the chapter in the leprosarium). He makes the bargains because he really likes the land, he sees it's beauty but he can't bear to fail/ be held resposible. He's trying to hang onto his sanity back home.
