Different editions of TDAGD

If you own the first edition of TDAGD, you may have noticed this error:
On page 226:
"I also am distressed," Vestabule continued. "Nevertheless I remember
portions of my human nature, and of my experience. In particular I remember
Captain Thermopyle."
Warden's eyes widened in surprise. How the hell did this Amnioni know Angus?
Vestabule didn't pause. "Perhaps even then he was in your service. I do
now know. But I remember that he captured the vessel on which I served. I
remember that he conveyed twenty-eight humans to Billingate and sold them.
In exchange he was granted certain information."
Warden fought to contain his shock. Twenty-eight--? Hashi's interrogation
hadn't revealed that cruel detail. Somehow Angus had kept it hidden.
Warden wanted to demand, What information? What information could
possibly be worth delivering twenty-eight men and women to mutation?
And then on page 305:
But Vestabule wasn't done. "Remembering desperation," he continued,
"I will tell you another thing for the sake of your effectiveness with Trumpet's
people. I am acquainted with Captain Angus Thermopyle."
As soon as he heard the Amnioni say Angus' name, Warden's attention
snapped back into focus.
"In my former life," Vestabule explained, "I served as crew aboard a
human ship named Viable Dreams. Perhaps your records have revealed
this to you."
Warden nodded slowly while a strange new alarm bloomed in his heart
like an evil flower.
"Our ship was captured," Vestabule said. "It was taken to Thanatos Minor,
where its surviving humans were sold to the Amnion. I was one among
twenty-eight men and women delivered for experiment and mutation." His
tone didn't waver. "This was done by Captain Thermopyle."
Then Warden Dios needed every gram of discipline and abnegation he
could muster to conceal his reaction.
I recently discovered that this was corrected in later editions. I haven't had time to read through the whole thing yet, but it will be very interesting to see what was changed.

hehe... I have first edition hard covers, and never noticed it after three readings. But I'm dumb that way...

Well, not officially.
But I think enough people want to do it, and there aren't any other major discussions going on at the moment.
Wouldn't be fair to do it with Loremaster absent, though.

I think we were waiting on the Man Who dissections before starting the Gap. Not sure how they're going, though.

I noticed this, I read the Gap in paperbacks first and it was only after I sought out the HB 1st editions that I noticed the error. This is a perfect example of SRD editing his works before the paperback release, another good one being in MN: Terisa Morgan's room in Orison has one window, out of which she can, according to the hardback, see the sun both rise and set.
It was Warden's reaction that made the error stand out for me, he's shocked both times when I was expecting him to think "this guy's crazy, he told me that five minutes ago".

Ok, maybe I'm stupid, but what exactly is the mistake in the first edition? I'm reading it, but not seeing it.

Took me a while too. Vestabule is telling the same story twice, but Warden reacts to it the same way both times. Warden actually already knows what Angus did.

Ok, I got it now. So you're saying the story appears twice in the hardback edition, but only once in the paperback. I must've misread the first post, but I thought that the first story was only in the hardback on p 226, and the second story was only in the paperback on p305. The second one is certainly better written, I have to say. I kept thinking that the big error in the first one was that Vestabule told Warden that Angus sold 28 humans to Billingate, and Warden's response was that he could not believe Angus would sell 28 men and women. And I was thinking, how would Warden know there were women in the group, too? And all I could figure was, wow, this is really not that big of a mistake.
