I went with agnostic, since the thread title is asking about religion. Taoist is the system, if it can be called such, I try to keep in mind more than anything else, so I could have gone with that. But it's not a religion. (OK, there is "religious taoism" also, but I don't imagine anyone knows anything about it, and I doubt it's what you had in mind.) I can easily see someone being a taoist and following one of any number of religions.

Yeah, I had to go with 'atheist' for the same reason. Zen heavily influences my life, but I can't call it a religion. Heh, and you were the first person that came to mind when I wrote Taoist, though I know you aren't (nor have I ever met) one.
Sorry if it feels like I'm trying to put people in boxes. I'm just trying to take a rough census. And discussion is great, I just don't want to skew the measurement, as superficial as it may be. And if we do end up talking about the poll, as I hope we will, then I'd rather everybody's own beliefs weren't wrapped up in the conversation, obviously, at least.

I also went with agnostic. I'm closer to a traditional Deist but perhaps a "Polydeist" is a better description. I must also include both discordianism and a bit of Taoism as well.

I am still highly drawn to the concept of Jewitchery, and have attended several Wiccan circles. But in worship I still prefer Lubavitch services.
I really am drawn to the concept of both Hashem and Shachina as dual aspects of G-d. But, I have not made the leap of having a personal alter or anything. It's more an approach in thinking of G-d than a way of worship to me.
Fisty, I think you and Paul will have some common thoughts in regard to spirituality. I will enjoy sitting back and listening to the two of you.

I hope it all works out for us!

I went with Christian, and I was raised as a Catholic, although I have to admit that, being an avid reader and scholar of ancient and contemporary religions and mythologies, my faith has likely been influenced by the philosophies and ideas of other religions, first and foremost the ancient Zoroastrian religion (which is ironic, considering that according to some scholars, this religion influenced Judaism when the two came into contact, and some religious scholars even believe that the concept of the Devil arises in part from Angra Mainyu, the Zoroastrian god of evil and darkness).

Sorry about the double post, (if it is) but I think this thread is toasted (smote?

). Xar's post, which I clicked on to get into it, isn't visible...in fact, nor is page 2 at all (I'm assuming it's page two). I've got two versions, one with the parent thread, and poll, and one starting with a post by Esmer and no poll. Don't know where this post will end up...maybe invisible, maybe not.

They're two separate threads aren't they? One for the voting and one for discussing the votes.
I voted atheist.

this thread is a perfect example of "intelligent design". It only
appears I started the thread, when actually I didn't!

Isn't that contrary to your view? Appearances can be deceptive...
