New or old conjecture on caesures?

Hi all,

Has the following conjecture on the origin of the caesures been well-hashed?

They were started by Nom, or the sandgorgons as a team. Nom "rent" one of the ravers, which from the text is not the same as being killed. Nom was then sent to free his sandgorgon friends by Covenant.

Conclusion: Just from the above, we have the live possibility of a raver-led group of sandgorgons. Great - that's just what the Land needs.

We also know that the sandgorgons have temporal transporting ability somewhat akin to the Ranyhyn - you call them and they come quickly, apparently travelling through time to get there (or something sorta like that).

So combine the possibility of some sort of time travelling ability with raver with bigtime sandgorgon power, and mebbe you end up with the vivesectioning of Time.

There's a lotta threads with a lotta posts - I certainly haven't read them all. Is this sort of theory new?

I'm still firmly convinced that "rent" is used in a more final sense than "killed", to distinguish between killing a Raver, á la Caerroil Wildwood or Mhoram, and finishing one off for good.
The idea of having just two Ravers now really appeals to me for some reason. I like the idea of having the remaining Ravers being proved mortal, kind of nursing their wounds, and now having a serious grudge against Covenant and his friends.

Warmark: I do recall a thread where the time-travelling power of the Ranyhyn and Sandgorgons was discussed, is that what you meant?
If so, I think it's this one: kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5068

Welcome to the Watch SheriffFruitFly, welcome indeed. I see the Somberlain seems to have linked to the thread I was going to mention, where, as you'll see, :D not many people agreed with me about the Sandgorgon's own mastery of time, similar to that of the Ranyhyn.

It remains however, an idea I'm fond of, and I look forward to saying, "I told you so" to those doubting WayFriends. ;)

That said, I also agree that the rending of the Raver was more permanent than simply killing his body...Nom consumed the shreds of the Ravers essence, changing him, but not into a Raver.

I agree. With the law of death being broken, simply killing a raver would not have done much good. I sort of figured that Nom realized this did something a little more effective.
