I love Kirk.
And the possibility of an *EVIL* Kirk fighting Picard might just get me into the theater to see it.
Some of the comments below the article are just way too funny.

WILLIAM SHATNER to return for new "STAR TREK" movie?

CanMag.com reports that Captain Kirk might be returning to the bridge of the Enterprise for the next "Star Trek" film. Not only that - he'll be joined by Patrick Stewart's Captain Picard and Scott Bakula's Johnathan Archer, of "The Next Generation" and "Enterprise", respectively.

The site claims that the idea to set the next "Trek" movie as a prequel, with the action centering on the students of the Starfleet Academy, has been trashed. Instead, they're considering doing a sequel that will be set in the "Mirror" Universe - which we've seen in both "Star Trek" and "Enterprise" before - which will make it possible for several of the 'captains' to team up. (After all, there's no rules/no continuity restrictions in the 'Mirror' universe).

"Apparently Shatner was in talks to do a guest role on Enterprise, but it didn’t work out. Why? Apparently he wanted a) more money b) would rather do Trek films. Solution? The ideas for the episode of the “Enterprise” episode he was going to do will now be incorporated into a movie. Yep, Captain kirk’s back", says the site. "It’ll be Shatner, Captain Picard and maybe Archer".

Let's just hope this new "Trek" movie is better than the last one - "Star Trek : Nemesis"!

Shan.

High Lord Tolkien, it is not neccessary to post a link, and then post what the link says, after you posted the link. That's just not neccessary.

That amused me  A hint of subtlety? From dAN? :P

In fairness to HLT, I think he posted the link so we could read the comments on the announcement. Mind you, the link doesn't work for me.

I think you just don't like my comment about Kirk being the best Captain.

First of all if someone posts an article that I find interesting I usually go to the originating site and check out if it's got more stuff I'd like.
So I will always post the link. :|

Secondly, if you really read my post you would have seen that I said:

Now, Mr Jr Clerk of the Redundacy Department of Redundency, how on earth would anyone be able to read all of the numerous funny comments if they don't follow the supplied link? :| :|

(I have just farted in your general direction)

Getting back on topic, I did read a rumor online that Patrick Stewart told somebody that the next movie would have a TNG storyline, or something to that effect. Same rumor, blown out of proportion?

I'm not a big Kirk fan, but a movie set in the Mirror Universe would be awesome.

Kirk is my 2nd favorite captain, so you're wrong. My joke was just a joke; it's a really funny joke in the parallel universe I come from. I haven't seen a Trek film since First Contact, and am likely to wait until they make an 'Enterprise" flick before I see another, so if this one has Kirk & Archer, then I'll go see it.

It was a funny joke in my universe too.
I responded in kind.
Fart humor really gets the comedy super strings vibrating in my universe.
You should be honored.
;)

Anyone who loved that parallel universe story should try to read "STtNG Dark Mirror" by Diane Duane.
It was very good.
It showed what the Dark Federation had been up to since Kirk and crew was there.
