Esmer Needs Drugs

Well, I was rereading Runes today and I thought to myself, "This dude needs Prozac. He's frekkin' bipolar. Maybe even 'tripolar'." (I'm a poineer. They laughed at Einstein too.) So, I began plotting, er, thinking, and came up with nothing useful. In order for my little experiment to work, you'd have to get Prozac (or something similar, or not, maybe I'm thinking of Xanax) TO the Land, in the form of something you could SHOOT him with from a distance, because he's ESMER: if he didn't simply diss you disdainfully, he'd probably kill you with your own drugs. So, gun, dart full o' drugs, and most importantly, luck. But there's also the thing of how he'd respond. The
haruchai aren't even human, so when you add in his
merewife-iness, you get a possible psychotic episode. so, you'd also need the
opposite of whatever drug you first shot him with. (As you can see, I don't really have a point here, I just want to shoot Esmer. Many, many, many times, with a really BIG gun.

)
Blah blah blah. So, am I stupid, or do I have followers?

I say just hit him on the head with a club.
It's just as effective and cheaper.

Have Nom "instruct" him in common decency.

Esmer needs affirmation and love. And possibly vocational assistance.

Besides, isn't Lithium the preferred treatment for bipolar disorder?

Arrrgh! Noooooo! You're not supposed to find out about my fiendish plan, er, benevolent plan! You didn't hear the fiendish! No you didn't! Nooooo-!
*is struck by lightning, and then given a cookie by a smiling Esmer*
Wheee....
And I wouldn't wish Lithium on even him! That stuff made me see things that I KNOW weren't there. John Stewart-in-a-Tutu doesn't know where I live, unfortunately.
No! Not the piano! Ooh, is that a Macy's gift card I see...?
(I have too much free time.

Back to the book...I think Esmer thinks he needs the Ring to Make himself right..they're both paradoxes, he proebly feels wild magic will save him.

I suspect Book!Esmer despairs of anything making him right. He talks about atoning for some unspecified trangression (perhaps he feels his whole existence is a crime?) but he's a very petulant fellah.
How can I do blah de blah if you don't dance to my tuuuunne wah feeeeear meee nyah.
I suspect he either 1) doesn't think much of his prospects or 2)resents having to put forth the effort.
His attitude makes me suspect he's not acting on his own initiative. If he's trying to atone, where's the contrition? If he's a free agent, why's he acting so put upon?
I think he should take a couple of Tylenol and read
The Confessions of St Augustine.

a combination of morphine, valium and attivan (sp?) is what they gave me for my kidney stone. that should work.

Nah, Adivan (sp?) only makes the paranoid itches stop. But it would calm him down a bit.
Let's just load the gun! And give 'im a glass o' gin, too. He strikes me as a gin fellow.
(And he's been inducted into the Turiya-verse. Poor Esmer.

)
Petulant is far too mild. He acts like a little kid and an annoyed elder
at the same time. His tragic~helpful side wants to stay away from the ring, while his manic~malicious side wants the ring to do more harm.
Get the gun!
(Ooh,
Dogma on the tv.... Why is that meteor heading towards my satellite?)

Good stuff!
Y'know, there's no guarantee that Prozac or Xanax would even *work* in the Land, let alone on someone with Esmer's unique heritage. Maybe we could try hurtloam first?
Or, yeah, a big gun.

Yeah, and SRD won't let Linden bring carry-ons on the flight, so, there's pretty much no chance of ever testing whether our world's "magic" (currently science) works there. I mean, the Haruchai seem to be a different species, and no telling what his mother would be considered in our terms.
(No dolphin jokes! I've heard them ALL.

Mmmm...I don't know. I think everyone's mistaken about Esmer. He doesn't need drugs, guns or the ring to heal him. He needs the luvin of a strong woman. One night with the Mahdoubt should set that fishy freak right.
If the Mahdoubt's too busy with the Harucahai, we could check on Linden's availabililty. Might do her some good. Help her get over the dead leper.

Bugger Linden and the Mahdoubt. Tasty Raver wench with an obsession with the shorts, right here.
(I doubt shagging would help him. He'd just turn into a full nympho instead of just the half one he is now.

Ya never know until you try. Shagging might be the rite medicine. Sounds like you might be right up ol Esmer's alley!
Just don't tell Linden. Don't want to piss her off. She's the volatile type. Maybe she should be medicated.
