I'll try No. 3 next time I'm stuck in traffic on the expressway. Of course that might cause other troubles.....

While taking Kung-Fu, I learned to "channel" pain away from the brain,
and visualizing links in a heavy chain can stop the itch that's hard to reach.

Try this...
Sit in a chair and begin to rotate your foot in a clockwise motion. Now do the same with an outstretched hand. Try to reverse the motion of your hand (to counterclockwise) without reversing the clockwise motion of your foot. You'll find it impossible to do regardless of how much you try. The brain just can't seem to handle this multi-task.

Now thanks for making me laugh at myself Brinn! That's the neatest trick I've seen in a while. I know a great many people who will spend hours stubbornly trying to do this! Perhaps Avatar can do this, having a damaged cerebral cortex?
Heh!

What the heck are you talking about? I just did it. Yeah, it took the second attempt, because my foot stopped entirely on the first try. But hardly impossible.
And what's this about Av having a damaged cerebral cortex?

I find that robitussin heals all ailments. Flesh wound? Broken arm? Sprinkle some robitussin in there.

He has previously revealed, that he was dropped on his head as a baby, and has probably suffered some damage, that (we think) made him unable to think in immages, like the rest of us. Perhaps it would also render him capable of performing seemingly impossible feats depending on the motor-cortex, as som connections might have been severed.
The fact that you are able to do it either signifies that you have a special genetic trait, or some kind of trauma. I'm very interested in this from a genetical point of view. Could you ask your relatives if they can do it, as many as possible, and pm me the result, along with the relations?

I thought he said "dream images" not thinking in general.

Ah. I just searched, and saw mention of it in the Mind's Eye thread. I took Intro to Psychology in college, and the teacher said he thinks in words. Some people "see" a tree when they think about one. He "sees" the word
tree. I don't often see anything at all; I just think
tree. (Maybe this should be in that thread, eh?)

I'll look into it. Maybe the Force is strong in my family.

If that is indeed the case, I would like bloodsamples too, to do a midichlorian count

No, he distinctly said, that he was unable to immagine a picture in his mind.

I'll just post here as I check relatives and get results.
Dad could not do it. He would only try a couple times, then went back to watching (American) football.
My mother said she could, but it took many tries before she succeeded, and she could only do it every few-several tries. However, I can only talk to her on the phone, so I can't actually verify the results. She's a bit flighty, and I cannot completely trust that she actually did it. Did her foot stop for a second? Did her foot also start going counterclockwise, but she thought she got it right? Impossible to know with her.
My sister is also too far away to see. But I trust her when she said she did it after a couple attempts, and can do it consistently.
This reminds me of the experiment in middle school. We all put a piece of paper on our tongues. Some said, "Yeah? Now what?" Others spit it out, and said, "EEWW! What the heck is that?! It's real bitter!"

OK. Here's another. Stand with your heels and back against a wall. Without holding on to anything, lean down and touch your toes and back up again without falling! IMPOSSIBLE for most people!!

Do you mean bending at the waist, knees locked? Or bending at the knees, with head and back remaining in contact with the wall? Something else?

That's truely amazing!
I'll have to look for this Minds Eye thread.
It's amazing that he's a fan of fantasy at all.
I mean, it's very much visual imagination.
Actually, as I think about it I really can't wrap my mind around how his life is like that.
When's he coming back anyway?
Wouldn't it be funny if we posted about Avatar like he was dead? So when he came back he'd be like.."WTF?"
No?
Ok.
