Nethack

I have been playing Nethack for 2 years, somewhat badly.
Nethack is an adventure game where the aim is to enter the Dungeon of Doom, get the Amulet of Yendor, and take it to your altar in the Elemental Planes, and ascend.

I tend to get as far as Medusa's Island, but usually get defeated by being trapped or surrounded by monsters. Advice from other Nethack players would be helpful!
