I have run a cookie fixing thing and the instructions are as follows:

You and your users must clear your browser cookies and cache, and close and restart you browsers for these settings to take effect.

If you are having login issues, then please do this

Thanks Vain. Will empty Cache and delete cookies to see if that works.

I wasn't logged in when I came here this morning, so thought maybe it would be alright (because the cookie had been changed). But then I came back and it wasn't marking posts read, so I deleted the cookie, emptied the cache, and now it appears to be working.

Question: Does anyone know why they call them cookies?

I've cleared my cookies and cache but I'm still being logged out - dlb.

I managed to re-create the issue you guys are having.

What I did was physically open Windows Explorer, Go to the Windows folder, then the cookies folder and delete all cookies...then I went to the TEMP and Temporary Internet folders and I emptied everything out of there as well.

I restarted my browser and now I can login without the logout issue.

If you guys are having problems, it is definitely with your cookies and your cookie settings.

If you locate you cookies folder, you should see a cookie called:

default@phpbb2 - or similar

Open it with notepad and copy and paste the contents here.

Mine reads as follows:

Yours should be similar although I don't know what everything in it actually means.

Doesn't seem to have helped me Vain, but will re-delete and re-try tomorrow before loading browser.

I've never had a single log in problem here at KW. Now I can't log in at all.

A program that clears temp files, cookies, etc.

How is that any different from using the "tools" menu on the toolbar?

Windows is regarded as being very inefficient at those types of "system" tasks, and force us to rely on 3rd party freeware to do a good job at cleaning/maintaining......I, personally, use the default tools, but I'm not picky about stuff like that, heh......

It deletes everything, not just temp internet files and cookies. All temp files, IIS logs, .dat files - everything.

Do we have a link to the software so we can download it? Sounds useful

Hmmm, just the usual deleting cookies etc. before loading my browser this morning, seems to have worked, although I'll give it a while before I make a definite positive answer. :)

(Doubt I'd be able to install the cleaner unfortunately.)
