I stickeyed this up top, since it's too important a thread to get lost, and things can get lost here.

As a mod here, I've tried not to use my superhuman powers here too much. Mallory's is like a big sand box. Nothing important done here, but it does offer a chance to play some mindless games and relax. As long as there are no insults going on, and everyone plays nice, I could care less how many A-B-C games there are. I even let Dan's beloved Q game live, pointless though I think it is, it fills a void for him. :) The games that don't get played sink to the bottom soon anyway.

I do recognise how the proliferation of these threads can get in the way for others who aren't interested in playing. I have an idea about solving that and have asked Vain if it's workable, but I haven't heard back yet on that. I'll wait to hear from Vain before I make any more suggestions on that front.

Sarge, I agree with you, and disagree with my co-mod, about not counting the posts here at Mallory's. If we are going to start picking and choosing which posts are going to count we might as well take it to its logical extension and not count the posts in any non SRD related forum. After all, it's not like the U.N. is waiting for the Watch to submit a white paper on the world situation, or that everyone is dying to know that I'm listening to Dreamgirl by the Dave Matthews Band at this time.

Cho, coupons are beyond a mods power to issue, though money once was not. Mods used to have the power to give money from the bank to encourage posting, however, someone who has posted in this thread (Take a bow Revan! :P ) printed money from there like it was 1920's Germany and destroyed the economic system.

Perhaps large games, much larger than 10 pages though, can be locked and "son of" games can be created. Those games are obviously popular and should be kept on.

Uhh, that's about as far from the truth as you can get.....ask Loremaster why I created Q; he has the proper understanding.

Heh, you can't seem to live that down. For what it's worth, I'll stop harassing you for it, as you were just trying to be nice to the newbies when you did it.

New Year's resolution. I don't plan on keeping it with anybody I actually see on a day-to-day basis, but what the hey.

As the progenitor of some of the ABC games, I guess I don't see the problem with them. Now, if we are causing server load issues by posting frequently in Mallory (this place was created primarily for homage to SRD) I would feel differently, because I don't want the Q game to keep me from being able to read and share ideas about SRDs works.

As Damelon has pointed out, non-sticky threads are treated democratically - one post equals one vote, so the popular games show up first and get first attention. Unpopular games go to the back of the bus - but even so, if we like them we still know where to find them. I'm with Loremaster, my favorite game here is the Sentence Game [which nobody seems to want to play with me - and that's ok <sniff>].

I initially came to the Watch to learn and explore the works of SRD. I come back to the Watch more often than that now to play in Mallory's, but I still claim SRD-phile status as the reason why I visit at all.
