I'd love to do something like that - similar to Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials. However, 1999 was the year I stopped drawing, so . . .

Looks like pencil or charcoal drawings.
Any chance to see any colored pencil drawings?
I used to draw a lot way back when,
but I just can't get the shading or depth perception right.
Usually too 2-D looking.
