soo, my roomate went home to scotland for spring break, and somehow we got onto the fact that he is most obviously 5 hours too early, whereas he said, i'm 5 hours late

help settle the debate!

try thinking about it like we measure time by how long it takes the shadow of the sun to make it's way around the globe....now picture a long giant stick in Scotland, and one in the US....which stick, as the earth rotates, will hit the sun first?

we all know the US carries the biggest stick. we swagger, we stroll, we pimp,we gangsta, yo.

agreed sarge, but as men we certainly know it's not always a matter of who has the biggest stick, it's who gets there first, heh.

I used to work at a place where we'd kid around about Newfoundland time (90 min. ahead of EST): "Aw, man, if we were on Newfoundland time, it'd be time to go home!"

I used that line on one of my current bosses, who's Canadian. He told me that if I were, in fact, a Newfie, my people and I would be the butt of every ethnically derogatory joke told in Canada. Since I'm already half Czech (take your favorite Polish joke and insert "Bohack" for "Polack"), I decided to stay put.

I mean, you failed to mention whether or not he kicked your ass for questioning him.
A good Scot would have.
