The Whole Linden Avery Battle :)

I just finished WGW last night. Thoughts of that aside (which are many roaring through my head at this point), I started to wonder what the sides here feel about Linden. I am not completely sure what my feelings about her are as of yet, but I was curious as to why some here seem to dislike her. Was it that fact that
she lived and TC did not?
Or was it that she became a main character to the story and pulled some of the focus off of TC?

heh, well you'd have to read the enormous posting on it somewhere here, but it is generally broken down as the camp that hates her think she is a whining, indesisive troll.
I disagree with the most strenuous emotions possible.
But that is just me.

I've said this before, but I think Linden's problem is that Covenant had a trilogy's headstart in character development. Try to compare TWL Linden to LFB Covenant. In Runes Linden has developed quite a bit an I think in fact acts more hastily than would be good for her.
Poor woman. She'd been having a mild clinical depression through most of her entire life (for very good reasons) and people complain she isn't upbeat enough. (Was Covenant?)

My dislike for Linden really came into its own after reading Runes.

I don't have a problem with Linden really. Indeed, it's a testament to SRD's skill that he can write a character that annoys people so much.
I think Nerdanel has a good point about Character development as well. TC did plenty of whining in LFB.

Thank you. It is one of the reasons I have a hard time reading the first Chrons now. I always fell TC is just too whiny. He strong willed and stubborn (like LA) but ....

Where does this idea that Linden is indecisive come from? I reckon she's a much more decisive character than TC ever was, with a stronger belief in herself as well. As an example, look at the way she deals with the Haruchai - the girl will not take any crap from them!
