Hello.
I recently dragged out my N64 for my kids and caught the game bug again.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, I just like to kill and blow things up...and blow up things I've killed.....and...well anyway my kids are 3 and 6 so I need something simple with fun titles.

Looks like Gamecube would make the most sense for me.
The kids like Mario stuff.
But I have a nice large high def TV now and would like to enjoy some crisp graphics for myself.
Is Gamecube too old to make a good picture on my TV?

The XBox 360 is out of my price range but is it backwards compatiple with the old Xbox just in case?

So I guess what I really want to know is if the Gamecube, Xbox or PSII would look good on a highdef TV.

Xbox 360 is indeed backwards compatible.

I'm not really sure what games look like on a High Def TV.

But as for the 'Blowing Up and Killing....' Xbox and PS2 have more ''Mature'' games on them, although there are a few on the Gamecube.

I don't know what it's like in other countries, but here the 360 is only backwards compatible if you buy the correct package.

I'd heard they were only porting selected XBox games, and only a few would be backwards-compatible without porting.

That's also true, I'd forgotten that.

Xbox 360 is only backwards compatable for select games, basically all those that had 'platinum' status, ie: popular/sold lots.
Yes, it is still expensive, but the graphics and capabilities are astounding! I think I will be getting one next year.

Gamecube is definately cheaper and has games more geared for kids or family use.

Between PS2 and (regular) Xbox, I would go with Xbox, just because of better graphics and power of console. And Xbox Live set the standard and is still far ahead of PS. PC2 has a larger catalogue (but not necessarily better).
