New Forum Suggestions

Revan suggested some new forums to me, but he didn't want to make a public topic about it. So I'm going to, heh.

His suggested making a Current Events/News Forum and a Humor Forum.

I think a Current Events Forum might be good to move some of the smaller topics out of the Think Tank. So any small current news can be talked about in the new forum, and the Tank can be kept for all of the big debates, heh.

I don't know what Revan really has in mind with a Humor forum, but I guess he can try to explain that better, and maybe if anyone has any suggestions they could add them.

So yeah, feel free to add your suggestions or comments. Or yell at me that there are already too many forums, heh. That works too. Or suggest your own ideas for new forums. Lay it on me.-jay

Humour is an intrinsic part of the Kevin's Watch experience, and is present throughout the forums - to create a forum specifically for humour might result in a segregation of some of the things that make KW so fun, pushing it all into some back corner forum.

I've been hoping for such a forum as well. I mildly resent that the Tank ended up appropriating all the news with its various "News That Make You Feel..." threads.

Ditto, especially as the stories that don't fit any of those categories simply can't be posted anywhere.

i totally see your point Murrin but i just can't imagine having a Humor forum would really affect the fun we have on the rest of the forums at all.

(i'm all for tidy, see...having a specific place to locate and look for things)

Funny that humor comes up....just the other week I wanted to post something about a comic that I love and couldn't figure out where to put it, not sure if it went into Vespers or TV Shows or what.....

I always assumed that if you didn't know where to post something that "general" was always a safe place no matter what the topic.

I'd like a comic book forum too, btw.

If you're going to have a "current events" type forum or a "Tank-lite forum" I can't see how it won't get "heavy" like the Tank.
A lot of Tank threads are about the news.

Maybe make it a "Politics-Free-Zone News Forum".

Using the words Bush, Clinton, Republican, Democrat, liberal and or conservative in *ANY* post is cause for an immediate 1 week banning!

And there should be a THOOLAH forum too!

Well, I wasn't quite thinking that the new Current Events Forum would be a "Tank-light" Forum, but mainly just a Forum for any news stories or current events that people thought were interesting and wanted to talk about. Like a couple people said, it's mainly to spread out the news stories that people want to talk about, so that they aren't packed into those "News Stories That Make You..." topics in the Tank. This would also allow people to discuss any "big" news stories, and debate however they want. If a topic gets too "big", maybe we can make a rule to move it to the Tank.

But the Think Tank will remain the forum where people can discuss the "big" political debates, which may or may not be currently in the news.

I'm still not sold or quite sure if we need a "Humor" Forum myself. I think Gen Discussion and the rest of the forums cover the topic of "Humor" well enough.

A Comic Book/Anime/Manga/Comic Strip/Cartoons Forum is probably a good idea.

I'll probably make the Current Events/News Forum soon, since no one seems to have a problem with it.-jay

(Oh, and any creative Covenant-related titles for the new forum? Heh.)

I'm with Lucimay and Lorelei. I think it's worth trying out, at least. Gen Dis is all well and good, but many people (sometimes including me, heh) can't be bothered to face that mish-mash of randomness to see if there's anything good in there.

We can always give it a go and see how it turns out.

I see someone's having fun putting up new forums...

No, not entirely. Yes, there is in humor in every forum, most topics, but by humor forum, I don't mean to suggest that we take every post that has humor in them. There'd still be humorous exchanged within other forums.

Sites that have humor in them could be listed there. We could create topics there, "what's the best joke you've heard?" "What's the funniest thing that has happened to you?" those are just a few off the top of my head.

believe me, It wouldn't take away any of the humorous exchanges we have here.
