Damm cool old group! I'm listening to the Jim Rome (sports) Show on radio and he's interviewing them, Tommy Stintson, Chris, Paul Westerberg (oops Paul didn't show... :( ). They're coming out with a "best of" album that includes 2 NEW songs!!! First time in 17 years!!!. He just played Message to the Boys (world premier) that rocked my day! 8) 8) 8) Very cool! 8)

thanks for the info danlo. seems an odd place for the 'mats to show?

"Bastards Of Young"

God, what a mess, on the ladder of success
Where you take one step and miss the whole first rung
Dreams unfulfilled, graduate unskilled
It beats pickin' cotton and waitin' to be forgotten

We are the sons of no one, bastards of young
We are the sons of no one, bastards of young
The daughters and the sons

Clean your baby womb, trash that baby boom
Elvis in the ground, there'll ain't no beer tonight
Income tax deduction, what a hell of a function
It beats pickin' cotton and waitin' to be forgotten

We are the sons of no one, bastards of young
We are the sons of no one, bastards of young
The daughters and the sons

Unwillingness to claim us, ya got no word to name us

The ones who love us best are the ones we'll lay to rest
And visit their graves on holidays at best
The ones who love us least are the ones we'll die to please
If it's any consolation, I don't begin to understand them

We are the sons of no one, bastards of young
We are the sons of no one, bastards of young
The daughters and the sons

Young...take it, it's yours...

I remember them, just couldn't stand them.

Sorry Danlo.

You know Cail not only have you encouraged me to delete this thread, but it brings back a saying my mother (don't forget your Mom on Sunday!) used all the time: "If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all." :P

Seriously, I liked one or two of their songs, but there's no denying Westerberg is a talent, Actually the band was more concerned with partying themselves to death than keeping much together--I was impressed with the new song tho...

Just not my type of music I suppose.

Of course, I've had "Dyslexic Heart" stuck in my head all day, so take that as you will.

The Mats are my favorite band ever. This thread rulez!

I heard the aftermath of PW no-showing Jim Rome. That was awesome, I'm glad he stiffed him.
