If you were Linden, would you have killed your mother in that situation?

I do not have that kind of extremity of emotion in me. If I had been Linden then maybe I would have had, but I am not.

Is there any money involved, 'cause if so, no problem. You know any old lady's that need a little push into the afterlife?

Honestly, no. I could never accept that much moral responsibility over another person.

And dangit, scratch those cards!

Sorry, but I have always been one for taking the quick way out of a situation as Linden did - I can't stand watching people suffer, so with those overpowering emotions my mindfulness goes out the window....
But if I think about it involuntary euthanasia isn't exactly something I would resort to. I'd probably only kill in self defence. Not including my ex-boyfriend of course, but he was ASKING for it.

I'm sure glad Linden changed after her experiences in the land, I don't see her doing anything that extreme again..?

If the person was suffering horribly and WANTED to die, even then I don't think I could do it.
And it's pretty clear the the Mom DID NOT want to die, and was terrified of what Linden was doing
That was one darned creepy scene!! 8O 8O Very disturbing!! 8O 8O

No. Not under any circumstances. How old was Linden? Sixteen, fifteen? She only had 2-3 more years of living with her mother then she would be free!

Sorry to say this but when I think about it like that - 2-3 years of living like she was, with her mother just lying there dying... I mean to sit and watch something like that is really hellish and then after she left home she would still hardly be free ... I mean the guilt of leaving her in the hospital would still be there - man, that doesn't sound like a fun youth.
Not to say she had a fun guilt free youth with the way things worked out anyway, but.... Oh I thought I had a good point there, too....

While there can be many good arguments for euthanasia I do not believe that Lindens acts can be seen in that light.

I don't think that they can, either. To me, given the mother's terror, it was murder.

Oh, it was murder. Linden herself never felt it wasn't.
(Are you not evil? You have commited murder.)

Oh ok ok, so I said euthanasia...

I do agree though. If even for the reason of, Linden's motivation for doing what she did. She wasn't trying to help her mother in any way, she was doing it for her own reasons.

yeah I dont think she was trying to help her mother .. she could see it was not what her mother wanted ..

she was tired of seeing her like that .. I think she relieved herself of her mothers pain ..

but I could be wrong :)
